Re: Way to insult EVERYONE! - 14 years ago
Greg, You just named all Mod pullers in your post, and Mods have always allowed different engine combinations. I’m a firm believer that the Mods and the “Stock” classes should remain very distinctively different. I think what separates the two is more than just a hood, its brand loyalty. Sure the Mods have loyalty from Hemi to Wedge motors, but the brand loyalty is gone. The “tractor” clasby Jake Morgan - Forum
NTPA Pro Stock - 14 years ago
Agreed, there won’t be a Pro Stock class in the NTPA in a few years so I won’t have to worry about it. As for the PPL Pro Stock… if they keep the rules that keep a Deere truly a Deere… bring them on, I still love to watch the Pro’s (even if I think the cubes are too big). As for me keeping my nose out of the Pro’s (or any other class)… I doubt it… As long as I have this page I’ll continue tby Jake Morgan - Forum
Re: Way to insult EVERYONE! - 14 years ago
Actually I’m insulting someone who insulted ALL the current pullers out there. I don’t feel too bad about that. Why am I passionate? Have your read my posts? I’m passionate because I think a JD should be a JD, I’m passionate because I think something should actually be what it truly represents. I’m passionate because I think brand loyalty it the #1 thing the tractor classes have going forby Jake Morgan - Forum
Off-brand value - 14 years ago
Again, if you don't like it don't read it. By the way, roll cages were never this big of a deal. Brand loyalty may mean nothing to you but 70% of the people who took our poll didn't want brand lines crossed. How are the off-brand pullers not outraged by this new rule? This rule just destroyed the resale value of off-brand engines and parts. Why would any future AC puller buyby Jake Morgan - Forum

Way to insult EVERYONE! - 14 years ago
So you’re insulting ALL the pullers that run stock blocks with hoods that actually match the brand? You’re implying that if you change the hood you’re going to somehow make more power? Rules that don’t allow you to put a Ford hood on a John Deere are somehow “grass grower” classes. Re: Quote from my Mom - 14 years ago
Maybe you're right... maybe people won't care. Personally I do care. I think it's very important to keep brand lines from crossing. If this new rule is upheld and the NTPA moves forward with it then the Light Super Stock just became the Light Funny Tractors. In my opinon, and I have no interest in that class anymore. Your mom can take my seat and I'll go watch the Lightby Jake Morgan - Forum
Re: "My Question still is unanswered. What benefit will this new NTPA rule bring ? - 14 years ago
Don’t worry about me Greg, my shoulders are fine. I’ve stated full well (and often) that my track record isn’t perfect, but my track record is what it is and I’m not afraid to call rules and trends like I see them. Again, I never said I was right, just giving my resume and my predictions. You can interpret that however you like, and you can disregard my opinion if you’d like.by Jake Morgan - Forum
Re: "My Question still is unanswered. What benefit will this new NTPA rule bring ? - 14 years ago
Now (with this new rule) there’s no incentive to try anything new because you can just order a Big Block John Deere from Riverside Engines Inc. and call it an AGCO. Now there’s no incentive to build or develop the 40 Series Detroit or the 8.3 Cummins for an AGCO. The only incentive with this new rule is simple… if you want to win you order what’s tired and true. If you want to win under thisby Jake Morgan - Forum

I’ve had this page for twelve years. I’ve argued with people about various topics for twelve years. Year after year after year, I’ve had similar arguments, and year after year after year I’ve been either proven correct or proven very close to correct on an overwhelming majority of my predictions. I’m running out of time before class so I’ll address what I can now: First, nobody is calling for decubing… that’s a separate topic for a separate debate. Cubes are a problem in some classes, but that’s not our concern right now. Color is a symptom of cubes, but not directly related to mixing and matching blocks in all classes (i.e. LSS). Mixing and matching is not true color. NATPA doesby Jake Morgan - Forum

Very well said JR… and all this time I thought Bonnie was the brains behind everything you guys do! As JR said, the Light Super Stock and the Light Pro Stock will add plenty of color and variety. As for the Diesel Super Stock and the Open Super Stock… last time I looked they were both pretty colorful. As for the Pro Stock class in the NTPA… I’m not a fan of Darwin… but natural selection isby Jake Morgan - Forum
Re: Updated engine block and hood list - 14 years ago
Sascha, Thanks for the info, I updated the list to include the combinations you mentioned. I also simplified the list it to make it easier for everyone to read. The list is straightforward and it's very similar to the rules we’ve had for years, but it allows people the ability to move backwards with the sheetmetal for their given brand. I honestly believe this list is actually whaby Jake Morgan - Forum
Re: this rule will kill state pulling - 14 years ago
My hope is that no member state, or non member state allows this cross breeding. My hope is that this rule will be modified to something similar to what I've written... something in which brand lines and heritage can be intact and color can run true.by Jake Morgan - Forum
Re: "My Question still is unanswered. What benefit will this new NTPA rule bring ? - 14 years ago
The rules state any Ag block on the GN level in the SS classes. This includes DSS and LSS. Personally I think this rule should be for the Unlimited SS only, but the rules say otherwise.by Jake Morgan - Forum
Re: My Realistic Solution to Hoods and Engine Blocks - 14 years ago
I agree that the Hypermax block was handled poorly by the NTPA, but OEM is OEM, it’s as simple as that. Hypermax used the proper channels and worked within the system, and completely within the rules. It didn’t have to come in a tractor as long as it’s an OEM replacement. If you really want to go through the pits and pick out blocks that came in tractors we might just have a very few tractorby Jake Morgan - Forum
Re: Where are the board members? - 14 years ago
I agree about the board members, they all read this site. Some may pretend like they don’t, but they do… they seldom, if ever post under their names, but they read what people are saying. As for the new rule, it’s like saying: lets just open up our borders to any illegal alien, and make everyone legal because it’s easier than actually writing logical rules that should be enforced. Re: "My Question still is unanswered. What benefit will this new NTPA rule bring ? - 14 years ago
I don't know about the Hyper block having a “definite advantage” over all the rest of the cast blocks. I think there are some pretty stout cast blocks out there. Infact, if someone really wanted to do R&D and get exotic they could put any AG block in the GN DSS class (rules have allowed that for a few years now). Is the Hyper block stronger than the DT466? Maybe… is it stronger than a BBby Jake Morgan - Forum
Re: My Realistic Solution to Hoods and Engine Blocks - 14 years ago
If you look at my chart, that's my solution as well... any JD hood on any JD block... any IH hood on any IH block... etc... The current rules, as of the past week, mixing and matching across brand lines are a joke that completely destroys brand loyalty. The old rules (two weeks ago) did not allow any John Deere hood to be used with any JD block. The old rules only allow hoods the sameby Jake Morgan - Forum
Re: --POLL-- The NTPA New "Component engine rule" - 14 years ago
This is an absolutely great idea. If people don't let the NTPA know how they feel, nothing will change. Please everyone... take the time to email, mail, call, fax, etc... the NTPA and let them know how you fell about this rule. Let them know if you agree or disagree. Let them know if you are a puller, fan, sponsor, promoter... And believe me... fans, you should let them know how youby Jake Morgan - Forum

For anyone who hasn’t been to Bloomsburg, PA… I went a few years ago, and it was one of the best run events I’ve ever been to. The crowd was huge and the pull was extremely well run. It’s been a few years since I’ve been, and I’m sure they’ve continued to improve the show and I would highly recommend the trip for both pullers and fans, you should definitely get your money's worth.by Jake Morgan - Forum

I fell in Love with pulling because I marvel at a 106 HP tractor putting out 2000 HP. I marvel at what I saw in the fields and what you could truly do with those engines. Re: Any motor any sheet metal makes sense! - 14 years ago
No, the 6030 came with a 531. A 619 is, and has been, a perfectly acceptable replacement motor. This has been discussed in great detail over the years, but no 6030 came from the factory with a 619.by Jake Morgan - Forum
Light Pro Stock and component chassis - 14 years ago
If the NTPA keeps the current mix and match sheetmetal rule I'm 100% against allowing component chassis in the Light Pro Stock… ever! I know people think I’m joking or being dramatic, but I’m so against this new rule that I really am not interested in any tractor classes that adopt the rule. Re: Question about the new ntpa engine sheetmetal rule - 14 years ago
They had a 7500 lb. Super Stock for years and years, and there seemed to be no lack of stock chassis that could make weight. What's the current DSS class? Still plenty of stock chassis tractors in there too. I think the NTPA should have made it 8000 lbs. even but 8500 isn't a bad place to start.by Jake Morgan - Forum
Re: Any motor any sheet metal does not makes sense! - 14 years ago
These are two separate topics:, this current rule is about mixing and matching any hood over a BBJD or any other stock block. Billet blocks are not my main concern right now. My main concern is this current rule that is proposed. If you want to discuss billet blocks we should start a new thread about billet blocks.by Jake Morgan - Forum

I honestly hope this new rule is not in stone, but if so… I think the Non-component tractors should take a serious look at jumping into the Light Pro Stock class. It’s going to be a high horsepower class with some very exciting rules.
