Re: Death of a puller - 14 years ago
Our condolences to your family. I meet Lyle at a pull in Greeley Colorado back in the late 90’s, I can’t remember if it was 97 or 98. I think he may have been the only Super Stock at the pull. I had a nice conversation with him, and we joked about the competition (lack there of) at the event and in the far west of the midwest. He talked about some of his memories about past pullers from Colby Jake Morgan - Forum

Sand at Louisville - 14 years ago
mmztu2, I couldn’t agree more. I climbed up the sand pile in Gordyville a few years back to get a picture of Josh Martin’s tractor and it was definitely a bit of a climb to get to the top. It’s easily twice the height of the sand pile in Louisville. I use the term sand in Gordyville loosely; it’s actually more like a sandy loam, just a pile of dirt really. Louisville has some very nice sby Jake Morgan - Forum

To mf180, Yes, it is a Louisville thing. That doesn’t mean every puller enjoys it or every puller agrees with it, but it is a signature of the pull in Louisville, thus making it a Louisville thing. There’s no reason to get so mad or fired up or to call anyone’s comments dumb, in fact “quartermiler” didn’t even say he agreed with it, he just said that it’s a Louisville thing. Re: new iron - 14 years ago
The Herc powered tractor that Mark Hootman is working on is not Haiers, it’s from the other end of the state (as Ed posted, maybe Albany area). It’s Mark’s Hooter Scooter chassis and turbo setup from 2008, so it’s light and should make both the light and the heavy class. Hootman is doing the motor and fuel system so don’t expect any smoke. Re: new iron - 14 years ago
I haven’t heard of any new tractors yet, well, the Herc powered Oliver that Mark Hootman is finishing up will be ready for 2010, and should be a strong runner. People upgrading: Roy Metz is going component with the old Jessie chassis (Engler), John Weidman is getting a new light weight chassis from Jason Hootman, as is Charlie Haier. Re: diesel lss - 14 years ago
We are talking about Louisville. I don’t believe they are forced to run NTPA rules at the Farm Show. Whether Esdon is at 504 or 540 it wouldn’t matter in Louisville, they make the rules, and if they wanted Esdon in the class he'd be in the class. As for the NTPA, they will let diesels run 540 in the LSS soon enough. By the way, it will help the NTPA show to get more top diesels in theby Jake Morgan - Forum
Re: diesel lss - 14 years ago
Yes, they used to pull the diesel and the alcohol tractors together in Louisville. Personally I think it was a very wise decision to make the class an all alcohol class for its first year back. It eliminates the weakest part of the show in Louisville, the smoke tube. Get the class back and stable and make sure they put on a good show in 2010. Worry about mixing fuels in a few years. Re: Is Esden Lehn building a new super stock - 14 years ago
Actually diesel and alcohol tractors are both limited to 505 in the NTPA Light Super Stock class. I personally believe the NTPA should open up the diesel limit in the LSS to 540. I’m not sure if anyone other than Esdon knows for sure if Redline Fever is 504 or 540. The only thing I know for sure is the Esdon sure makes things interesting in the LSS class.by Jake Morgan - Forum

Post Preview - A while back a registered (FP680) asked for a thread/post preview option. Well, it’s taken me a while to get my butt in gear, but I finally got it figured out. Re: D21 Superfarm Question - 14 years ago
Technically you can’t run an IH DT466 in an Agco, but you can run a 40 Series Detroit. People can argue all day long that the 40 Series and a DT466 are the same, but even if they were 100% identical the DT466 would need to have a serial number after the Tenneco buyout of IH to be considered a legal replacement. Last I knew an IH DT466 in an Agco is 100% illegal in the NTPA.by Jake Morgan - Forum
Re: D21 Superfarm Question - 14 years ago
The 516 isn’t legal in the SF class in the NTPA, I’m not 100% sure but I don’t think PPL allows it as a replacement motor either. To be legal in the NTPA it either needs to be a OEM replacement as designated by Agco, or the block must be able to swing a stock crank for a 426 without any modifications to the block.by Jake Morgan - Forum

Re: It's been in the rule book since 2005! - 14 years ago
Yes, if you decube ANY ag engine to the LSS 505 limit you can run it on the GN circuit. It doesn't matter if its a 540 Perkins or a 3306, as long as it is decubed and conforms to the cubic inch limits it's legal on the GN circuit.by Jake Morgan - Forum
It's been in the rule book since 2005! - 14 years ago
As for the 3306… the rule book has stated for a few years now that any AG motor is legal in component tractors on the GN level. That includes DSS and LSS. I had this same discussion with Fatboy on the phone a few months back… from the 2005 NTPA rule book under the category Super Stock Tractors letter g – “Component tractors at GN/SN level only are allowed to use any agricultural engine thatby Jake Morgan - Forum
Re: Building CAT 3306 super stock - 14 years ago
A 3306 would be perfectly legal on the NTPA GN circuit. Infact, any Ag engine has been a legal component option on the GN circuit in the DSS class for a number of years now. Nobody has taken advantage of that rule yet, but it’s been in the books for a while. With the NTPA’s new rules (or lack there of) anything goes, heck build a 3306 and call it whatever you want… 4010, 706, 1066, D-21, hecby Jake Morgan - Forum
