Bob has a fair price on his. I've seen them as low as $400 beat up and/or rusty, and premium quality as high as a grand!

Bring on the blue. But the potential problem is, as he states, is its a "Hot Farm". The rules can vary and immensely, depending on what association he will pull in.
For instance, as I interpret the IPL rules, his proposed blue tractor, I believe, fits the gray area, since the "engine, transmission and rearend are" not of "the same manufacture." Different sheet metal, even cross d

886 used either the American D-360, or the German 358. Yes, the 358 is a 6 cylinder version of the engine in that 724. Like I said, with enough time and skill and/or money, anything is possible. But it's not gonna be an easy or direct swap.

I've never heard of a 724 before, so I looked it up on tractordata. It is a German built tractor with the 238 German 4-cylinder. All things are possible with enough work, but a 360 is gonna take lots of work!

Non-tractor engines had the engine ID stamped on the vertically on the right side of the engine, basically behind the alternator. Tractors were of course on the left near the center of the engine. Aside from the mounting plates, there is no down-side to a combine engine that I'm aware of.

I talked to a guy about an 806 gas. Stock frame rails, aftermarket wide front (norden perhaps?) mounted using aluminum, pressed steel 18.4-38, two forward gears, low range and rear whittled down and only usable for loading/unloading. It weighed 5500 without driver. A 466 would be heavier than the c-301

I'm curious if anyone knows how much power difference there would be running propane as opposed to gas, either 87 octane farm gas or the high end race gas? I've seen a number of yellow tractors on propane, and I just wonder if they are missing out on HP or if they are on to something. Thanks!

I know of an 806 gas that was weighing 5500 empty, pulling 6000. Of course the gas engine is lighter than the diesel, and he had a custom lightened schwartz type front end, only 2 gears, had the reverse and low gears machined light so they were only for loading, and a whole bunch of the obvious!

If I'm not mistaken, Fritz is the reason the Platteville pull won't allow gas engines. His advice would be worth listening to!

You need to ask this on RedPower, there are several very knowledgable people on there that could probably help you out.

Rules on 3/4 ton street class? in years past it was no added weight, but no limit either. Would a stock crew cab one ton be allowed? Are they pulling last (or close to it) like usual? I'd hate to miss it, but I'm not starting chores at 3 o'clock just to sit around watching antiques for 3 hours lol

My opinion is that the BFGs are the number one tire, if you can find them. I have no idea why, but they just seem to pull!

What are you doing with them? Farming or pulling?

I think at 8 mph you should be ok. At 5 or less I would be worried about not having enough torque to lug with the big boys. One major advantage you will have is cost. Compare the cost of a turbo vs. building a custom big cube engine! You will get more HP much cheaper.

Dad has always had a saying, "Nobody goes broke during the bad years. They go broke during the good years, they just don't realize it until the bad years hit."
I think many of you may operate under this policy without even knowing it. In my opinion, two types of people are about to realize that they are broke: the big shots who have been buying high dollar land, paying high rent with long

The simplest way is to use 66/86 series frame rails. You will need to lengthen the hoods, among other things. It's not a simple drop in, but it's definitely not the most complicated thing.

To swampy and 05cummins: As I read it, they are NOT changing the rules. They are merely saying that anyone who didn't build to the proper rules needs to comply, regardless of what another organization will let slip by. No different than someone running the wrong tire size and nobody catching it at the first pull, it's still illegal!

Do modern CVT trannys put the power to the ground efficiently? Can they put even more power to the ground? Hydro trannys are innefficient as heck, which makes them unsuitable against anything but stock hp machines. And honestly they have little advantage on a very well built track.

The head is the key to power on those engines. You can get 50% more than stock by changing nothing except head work.

The DynaTorque II long/short bar tire is a big disadvantage due to not being a full width tire. The long bars start in about 2 inches, giving you only about 16 inches of actual lug hitting the ground at any given time. I can't see any way they would be superior to anything else, in any application....

Personally I'm all for using double entendres when naming pulling vehicles. Stuff like hooker, xxx, etc have legitimate meanings, as well as a more provocative meaning. However, I don't know of any different meanings for slutty.

9000 is doable and still put it back together to farm. I doubt 8000 is. (at least not easy enough that you will do it twice!) My cousin pulled 9500 with his stock 966, cast 38's, fenders, wide front with wet bolster (for a NF), no 3-pt or PTO. If you ran a NF and pressed wheels, no fenders, I suspect 8500 is doable.

Personally I think it has less to do with blacktop and more to do with what the local pullers run... though I will say running too heavy, or running too hot of tractors can cause problems getting them stopped. You can run antiques as light as you want and as many classes as you want and they will keep pulling again and again boring everyone else. Put in the required 4020 class and something from
