Looking at a John Deere 466 out of a 6620 combine. Would it be a good choice for a component tractor. Engine is open to offers what would it be worth?
Any help would be appreciated. |

Any late model 466 is a good canidate. I found mine in a 4450 at a salvage yard and gave 1500 it was missing the exhaust manifold and turbo. Two stock components that im not going to use anyway, basically it was a 85% complete core. They range in price from 2500-4000. Most parts are interchangable from older units to newer. Not sure of any differences between a combine set up versus a tractor as far as which side of the block the injection pump and oil filter are located. I have found that "55" series heads flow the best and there are countless manifold/ turbo options. Hope this was helpful. |

Try to find a 55 series engine so you will have the 55 series head.. Also try to find one that all ready has a P pump mount.. (Depending on you class) |

Arent the 466's out of 4640's and bigger a little different block? I think the bolt holes are bigger in the block and front balancer is different (it may or may not be used anyway). Ive been told they will work but some frame modifications need done if going in 4010-4430 frame. Combine engine should work. They may have different manifolds, oil pan, and flywheel. |
