You want throw back , go back to actual tractor motors no truck 360 or 466 put the engine that belongs in it period . Man can here the IH guys already , lol . That’s what ruined the 5500 period . Far as going back to 5500 lbs lol tractors would fall apart with today’s horsepower and the sleds are way different also ! It’s just a different time . This why the classes with limited in there name ar

So to David ; you are obviously respected by your piers to be in your spot so it doesn’t matter what others spout on here . Far as I see it the bitching only happens here by whiners ! The 3.4 turbo is an excuse for the “I can’t compete boo who excuse compared to the oh “yes I can” guys ie the hawthorns at 410 cid . Gotta have 100 extra cubes and a bigger charger to boot bs to lazy to do the work

The 180 tears are a lot lighter but cost more to build to put the 4 pinion dif in it. I changed to the 200 / 190 rear for that reason and put disc brakes on too . But remember the 180 is a lot faster in direct 22.7:1 verses the 190 at 27:1 so you have to change gears in the tranny or overdrive everything before as we did . There’s like 250-300 lbs difference between rear ends too ! I’m at 5600 lb

So what happens when you start wrecking those "light" tractors rears and trannys ! If diesel dominate are you going to give alkys more , then you'll cry for components next . Just made the tractors this class was made for ie 300-400 cubes obselete! Seen dyno sheets 466 1350hp with a 3x3 ,yes 3x3 , not even a 3x4 ! yet claim to need 3.6 and I'm a diesel guy at heart , pull an alky too .

6250-6500 if you don't want tractors all hacked up .if you have better than avg tracks they will need that movable weight , we have ran it here forc9 yrs and has grown every year ! If you allow 466 to compete which most do now then you need a little heavier if your keeping them out then a little lighter is easier to achieve. Just a Pullers individual perspective !
