That is correct. Ray's River Belle sled is probably the only one I've ever seen using cable box drive.

I proposed the idea of 315 cubic inch twin 3x4 turbos on original spark ignition engines. Thinking it would work, but certainly not a "hill I'm going to die on."

Dave, I just heard about the article from Jim Puckett yesterday. Miss the "characters" that used to pull in those days.
We have tried to scale back the classes out here to build numbers. In our Heartland group we have a couple of economod classes, prostreet 4x4 truck (about 650hp), Light Limited Super following the new Outlaw rules, Limited Pro Stock diesel truck, 8000 Light Limited Pro tract

There were a couple of different issues that almost killed pulling in the region. First was the farm crisis in the 80's. Most of the big names that made their mark in the national scene sold and left the sport. Along with that, the loss of the NTPA pulls in Hildreth, Nebraskas and Greeley, Colorado left us without any local national pull. The next issue that nobody talks about, is the fa

Please understand my intentions aren't to make anyone mad, I just want you guys to realize what can and will eventually be done. I have seen Ulmer's tractor make several runs, including a couple of wild rides. Even though they have taking the lightening process to the extreme, it hasn't proven itself unsafe.

I pulled against Jim several times in 1997. While neither Jim nor Kenny had roll cages, the class was still 5500 until the accident at Tomah. If you ad 250# for a cage, you can still add 250# on the nose.
In my opinion, the weight issue has become more of an issue of "my current tractor". I have pulled against or have seen several tractors that pulled lighter than I thought possible. Denni

QuoteDavid Runkle(earls dream)
When Badger State first adopted the llss rules , engine , clutch and rear all had to match. So an ih 686 with a 312 couldn't put a 460 or 560 rear end to save weight. So this is partly why the weight is 6500 . So to all that think 6000 is easy to get to , it's not. And with are tracks some nights biting hard i like the extra . If 6000 works for ky and othe

If I understand this correctly, I can't pull at our state fair if I miss more than 3 hooks? A little disappointed if this is the way it's going to work.

I think they should take a hard look at using the limits for the Outlaw or Region mods at 5500 pounds. If you could get the same variety of powerplants they have in the current Outlaw class it would make a very interesting class.

We never did run the 560's on diesel, but did have two of them pass through our salvage yard. My dad put a list of people together that he knew that have ran them in the past.

The sheet metal part numbers on the first series of McCormick MTX are exactly the same as the Case IH MX 100-170. You shouldn't have any trouble painting it the McCormick colors, but you would have to register it as a Case IH to pull it in NTPA.

At 8000 rpm with a 19 gear you will be turning right at 80 mph wheel speed. Seems a little strong to me. Mid 20's sounds a little closer to me.

Will also agree with 360 with twins is too much. However the 315 twins could certainly use the inter coolers like BSTP.

You really don't have much for options. The 8.3 cummins was only used in ZTX, which was discontinued after a few years. The smaller MTX only had the 5.9 cummins, perkins, or 6.7 iveco. Your best bet if you are stuck on the McCormick brand is to build an IH with McCormick metal, which will send a few on this board into a tizzy.

McCormick did not just build a tractor from scratch. They bought an existing line from CaseIH including the factory in Doncaster. The early McCormicks were actually just a CaseIH MX100-170 with a different motor. I think one could argue it's more of an IH than the MXM's that replaced them(blue tractor with a red paint job).
