Boy, the original post sure morphed quickly from a chassis failure to a pet peeve of wheel tethers. I will add to what Dick wrote regarding signs, waivers, posters, forms, etc. That is spot on. From personal experience, a few years back a promod snowmobile drag racer from New York was killed at US 131 Dragway ( I believe IHRA sanctioned at the time) during an event. A chassis component failed

I will reply...it is not about the one rollover. If you could see the picture that really cemented the decision, you would probably understand. It was just a few inches away from being catastrophic. We certainly do not want an underwriter to see it. And it is not just the one Slagh crash. There is other video floating around with feet flopping outside the rails all the way down the track. S

Dick, you are correct. One might say it is my leg or arm or whatever, but when it comes down to it, in the end, the insurance company will be made to pay for it, regardless of a person saying they will be responsible for themselves. You can be sure in any catastrophic event, the "survivors" will certainly want "their share".

Let me get this straight ......at this point in time, my opinion is known by only me. What I am trying to do here is explain it the best I can as I understand the proposed rule. There is just a lot of misinformation about it that people have already made up their minds from. The proposal was brought to the Board by at least two different class committees, so there is that.

Dick, so you think that the track will change that much in 10-12 hooks? That is about the maximum number of championship chasers there would be--and in some classes, even less than that.

Don't think it will impact the BG ring race. The ring is based on placing not points. So if you come in first, regardless of how many NTPA points you get, you would still have one point for the ring. A regional licensed or even a perhook vehicle can win the ring (as has been done numerous times). Again, just my interpretation of the rule.

Since Tomah is early, the 25 might not apply. It is not in stone yet, but the way I understand it: after a particular event (tbd), those GN competitors that have a legitimate chance to win the championship (maybe 10, maybe 15) will be "grouped". In a field of 25 or more (Fort, BG, Napoleon, Wauseon, etc), this group will have a random number drawn in the pulling order (first, last, middle, etc

Kinda left out of the discussion is that the grouping will be by draw....so the group will not know exactly where they will hook. Could be first, let's say first 15 hooks; might be last fifteen hooks; or somewhere in between. It will be random-at least that is the way I understand. You never really know how a track is going to develop--maybe good early, maybe good late. But, winning a ch

Can I give Bob a dozen thumbs up for his post
he Tethers were a complete Knee Jerk reaction, after analysis of the situation it was found that the wrong material was used on those two particular shafts by accident. The Tethers would not hold that shaft coming out. I'm 100% sure that the Manufacturer now has a system in place to safe guard this never happens again, as Do I at my shop. The

To Ex official.....did the bellhousing itself fail, ie come apart so it was in fragmented pieces, or did the 17 bolts that hold it to the motor fail? Just asking, because most times it is the fasteners that fail, not the actual bellhousing.

Thank you for pointing that out, my thoughts, too . If you look at the recent crashes (Dick, Miller, Kehl, Korporal, this year and even some in the past), they are all new to the class of minis with not a lot of seat time behind 2200-2600 horsepower. Stuff happens in that seat fast. With the new chassis, it can lead one to be rather complacent with how straight they go out of the box. For the

As one who was intimately involved is a serious head concussion case...Jason's neurosurgeon gave a big "no" to roll bar "padding". His answer was: tighten the five point harness to the point of being uncomfortable, Use a neck collar or HANS device. The neck collar should also be the kind that is almost uncomfortable to wear, not the flimsy, noodle like things that a lot of guys use. The

Why does the sport have to grow?? What is "grow". If you want to watch "pulling", there are countless antique pulls--some even BIG. At our county fair, there is antiques pulling and you can watch for free....can almost count spectators on fingers and toes. But that evening for the NTPA regional pull, the stands are full to capacity and trust me, they didn't get in for free.

I agree, Todd...I don't see the confusion with the NTPA site. Sometimes it is a little late, but that is more of the location of the event. Not every location has internet capable of instantaneous uploading. Heck don't call my cell if I am in my house....I have to go stand by the lilac bush to talk.

John, when I was in the corporate world, colors were very important. The colors we used were a particular blue and white and they had to match their particular color spectrum number. If colors temporarily change, it's normally to benefit a particular advertising campaign associated with the change. Just look at Coca Cola, Pepsi, Budweiser, Mc Donalds, KFC, Little Ceasars....the list is en

As a track official, isn't the official the one in charge of the operations of the event and track area, specifically? So, as a matter of legal fact, wouldn't the OTTPA and ITPA not be responsible? Then, it would become did the official receive the proper training to be in that situation (i.e. licensed/registered as an official). If the organizations had the proper insurance, all med
