I have seen the leveling type scrapers Cody described used and have been amazed by them. None of the effects you mentioned that normally happen with a trader box. They're awesome amd I'm going to try and get our local club to build or buy one.

You can pour salt all over them. It sucks the moisture out. It will also slightly shrink the tire sometimes. Not an overnight process though, it still takes a long time. You'd probably be better off getting them baked.

I agree, I've seen this done many times at Louisville. Just a fact of winter pulling, it's a little cooler and that's the only way to get some of them down the track.

Go to Open Office. It is a free program that is basically identical to Microsoft Office and will open any of their files as well as let you edit, create new, etc. Not a lot different than downloading a PDF viewer. I started using it when Microsoft stopped including Office software on their new computers several years back and it works great.

One thing I'll say is I always wondered why they didn't start at 7:00. It still allows everyone time to get there and keeps the show from running quite as late as well as take into account mechanical slow downs such as resets, smoke tube probably, etc.

Good write up Miles. Like you I wonder how long they will fight it when it might be easier to change directions totally. Here's to hoping they get it fixed and it goes on.

Most people seem to agree this year was the smallest crowd they've ever seen at the pulls. Considering that and the fact that a lot of tickets got sold at $15 instead of $40 AND they probably had to fork over a decent chunk of change for the backup smoke machines as well as repair what they have, I'd say financially they took it on the chin as far as net profits are concerned compared t

I agree completely, but when you're talking about just one class I don't think that will keep the fans from coming back. More members and pullers is always beneficial for the club and it provides a good starter type class as well.

Having a speed limit takes a lot of the whining and sometimes complicated tech process out. When there's nothing to really cheat on as long as you don't break the speed limit it becomes a more relaxed and fun class. Plus you won't have to build a new setup every 2 years to keep up with everybody. That's why a lot of mph classes are full of pullers. No it's not a fan favor

BG bought another 20 or so acres a couple of years ago and didn't use it last year. I'm assuming they will this year which should help with the parking greatly.

Mid south pullers do offer it in TN and they have a pretty good following.

Unless it's an rv or has farm tags you're still considered commercial whether or not you're for hire. You still have to stop at the scales, run a log book, etc.

I've forgotten the numbers but the stock head bolts are stronger or as strong as studs are on most other motors. You've got to have some insane cylinder pressures to need studs.

True. Hydraulic cylinder strength is not affected by stroke. Only bore and pressure.

One super farm puller told me a couple of years ago that if everything he'd bought that had promised him 30-50 hp had actually done it, he'd be a lot further ahead than where he is.

Is there even an advantage to one over the other? At the end of the day the only thing IH or Deere about either is the block. everything else is aftermarket, and I have a hard time seeing the block limiting one over the other unless one is just too weak.

Lets be realistic though. They can't make the track longer. and they're not going to make changes to the building for something that uses it one week of the year.
