I agree and not saying he shouldn't have rehooked. It was obvious something affected the tractor and caused it to lose power, most likely the back pressure and dirty intake air.

If you watch the video on their Facebook page you can tell by the sound he didn't let out but it was snuffed out.

I agree with needing to set a full pull before they run. Otherwise the puller has to cram it in the sand to make sure it doesn't get set past where he went. And because they can't "play it safe" you get situations like last night where you kill two engines or even tear a front end up.

Correct, I'm just stating it from the standpoint of hooking up to the sled.

Wow you are way way off on that. A longer chain decreases the angle of the chain going up to the hitch and results in less pulldown on the back of the tractor and less lift on the front of the sled pan. Drawbar length has no effect on the chain angle or amount of pulldown/lift. It does have the same effect on the tractor as using a bigger pry bar on something. The longer your drawbar is the more

In my experience always top down. I've witnessed countless times over the last few decades pullers making decisions that help them but hurt the class or entire club. Someone or some group up top who has the best interests in mind needs to have a final say. JMO.

8910 in that second video you can plainly see one of them had a top speed of 24.9. The first hook looked to be about the same but you couldn't see the speed sign.
That sled is set for max speed too if you watch it. The pan is up until the box tops. They wouldn't go that fast on other sleds

The exact discussion that goes on and into selecting these tractors is a proprietary thing we'll never get to understand. Sometimes they select guys just based on name and past performance even if they've not pulled or hardly pulled the year before (esdon lehn a couple of times). Other times it seems those guys get left off and some lesser knowns who are deserving based on their past se

Pretty sure it had nothing to do with ntpa. Promoter said they had to figure out the fume problem or they couldn't run. They came up with the halfway tube idea and there was enough backlash the promoter said forget it.

I am a die hard pulling junky and I never once look at points through the year. I honestly never understood why pullers get so tore up over them and drive all over creation trying to chase them when they could stay much closer to home and pull. But to each his own.

A well know pro stock puller told me if you want a top of the line tractor for that class you'd need $350k.

In all fairness didn't they change the show the previous two years? Added limited pro one year and light pro the next? It's not a total overhaul but they've made some steps in the right direction and they deserve credit for it. I have said for years all these classes of pro stock tractors is ridiculous. Another class of light supers seems like a no brainer but I guess they have the

I'm curious how you come to that conclusion especially with an event like Cloverdale. 320 track, top notch equipment, sanctioned with a national club, etc.
