I do some tinkering with NHRA drag racing. At the national events the Super Stock and Stock eliminator winners have the engine tore down, NO EXCEPTIONS. Maybe this is the way to cure the "Rule Benders"

OEM certanly is a choice, however who makes the OEM rod bolts?? this is the most important bolts in ANY engine. We all know the quality of ARP, IMHO

I had some issues with distribution when all my water went into the crossover. Changed to 6 Enderle in the ports (towards the valve) and 1 in the face of the wheel. My problems ended. Ny tractor is a limited RPM 13mm Model 100 pump, with a stock 3-LM 466. The water pump is a 220 psi electric unit. Probably use a pint and a half on a normal 12mph pull.

Thanks guys, I was thinking that the 400 series bolts would work, just seemed a little hinkey cutting off the excess. Although there is no reason that wont work.

I am looking for aftermarket rod bolts for a IH 361-407 engine. Anyone know if ARP or anyone is making these. The OEM's are way to expensive and the quality is at least questionable.

So let me get this right. You block off one of the two Turbine inlets, then drill a hole in it to a specific size to "tune" it to work well? Can it actually be this easy?

Hunting for a charger that will work on a 360IH diesel, moderately fueled (AMBAC 10mm) 3000rpm Will the 3-LM 353 be closer to working than the 466? I assume that the smaller number signifies a tighter housing??

I took the 2 part truck manifold, cut the turbofllange off of it and welded a 400 series turboflange onto it. Works great. I tried a Cummins 5.9 and with a bit of modification it will work. The one I tried was from a JCB Fastrack but the turbo flange was outside the hood of the 666.

I used a FASS 95 12v pump and filter system on the 666. Bypassed the 100's charge pump completly. I run about 65-70psi to the head of the injection pump. Seems to work really well.

I was treated VERY poorly by Dennys carb shop. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy. Volbrighgts were good to deal with for me. The pistons I got from them were almost too nice to hide in the engine, but it runs great.

I am looking for a turbo for a 312IH engine. This engine will be run at near stock rpm and moderate fuel. I am thinking ether a 3-LD or a TB-4129, the TB has a 60compressor housing and a 84 turbine. On my puller I am using a 3-LM466 and it works quite well, I can get under it if everything isnt 100%.

According to one of the MOPAR books I had, the engine had only 2 copies built One of the problems they had was breaking the propshaft on the first flight. They did not explain if this rusulted in a normal landing or not. Dyno numbers were very high, however the advent of jet engines killed the project.

IF you have access to a lathe you can cut lots of weight off of the stock hubs. Take a wheel you want to use and use it to mark where to drill. Drill and tap for the studs or bolts. I clamped the wheel to the hub and center drilled a bolt so I could center punch and drill exactly.

Just wondering if there are any easy ways to go larger CI in a IH 300 series engine. I hear that a 360 Ag crank and 360 Truck sleeves work well.

I have been spraying water into the face of the wheel on a 3-LM for most of 9 years with no problems. I am using a drilled IH ether nozzle for the turbo and Enderle nozzles in the intake ports. A 220 PSI 12v pump supplies pressure.

I would have to assume that if you are putting power through the countershaft, rather than straight through there should be a siginificant loss of power. How to figure this difference??????

Unfortunatly I know how you feel, Seems like all orginazations have "rule creep" It just costs more and more to stay with it. If I could sell my 1066 for a resionable price I would let it go, would be with heavy heart though. I assume it will be very hard for you for the first couple of years to sit out. Best of luck.

Maybe NTPA wiill become just like NASCAR. NASCAR has the car of tomorrow, COT for short. NTPA will have the Tractor Of Tomorrow OR TOT for short. They will have airbrushed grills and headlights and the engines will all be the same, no one could tell the difference in the competing vehicles. I know lots of guys love NASCAR but for me it it is a MAJOR yawn festival. NTPA back to your r

If you have the back and front plates off of a 666-686 312 engine you can also BOLT IN a 400 series engine, the 414-436-466 series engines. This combination is just a bit longer (3") than the 300 series and a bit heavier. If weight is a big issue this might not work. The one drawback to the 300 series is that the availability of a stock upright turbo manifold is nill. You will have to go to
