After reading all your post,I think the turbo rule will be a money pit. To help cap your class you need to lock down fuel to 16mm. bp and cam in oe pump bores.Fuel is the limiting factor.Years ago I put on MW turbo kits on 4010-4020-806-856 didn't change HP till I gave MORE FUEL. IF you want more hp from your diesel, what do you do TURN UP THE FUEL . Heat is what turns your turbo and to t

Guys you need to look back as to why this class was started. They did not want big engines, big turbos, after market heads or components. I think the rules in most part are good weight should be 6000# lower the drawbar if needed, If you want more weight, components, heads or bigger turbos go to LS, dont change this class.

Lewis, I think you need to start a new class called poor farmer cheap LLS. you buy and old 560 IH missmatched tires on back snow tires on front old feed sack for seat pad, good muffler we do not want to much sound , so fans can hear the pa system good.
then you draw numbers and every body pulls same tractor, now you will not be out spent or out engineered. But we must becareful not to get to

you need the 8.1 block,it has bigger mains to start with, the main bolts are to close on a 466 block, no problem on rods, piston boss needs to be wider. crank will need to be turned .010 to jd rod. the stock cummings crank is metric and is smaller than stock jd std rod bearing. bore out jd timming gear, front cover and rear seal quill can be machined to use cummings seals

I urge all the new light pro competitors to get your membership in as early as possible, so as promoters we can call office and see how many tractors are available. Remember NTPA wants us to have our classes picked by banquet time.

The AC tractors can run the Detroit clone IH with the old rules . He stayed with the AC. The new rules just give him more engine opts.
I can not see many JD pullers going red block and if they did , they are not going to talk about it. When you see a Ford, NH, Agco, Case IH will it have the FORD truck or the cummins or AC or Detroit or maybe IH. John Deere is the only company left to use deere

Good idea, But Hard to handel 50x350 tarp. tracks in the past had smaller tarps layed over each other and always water ran someplace under tarp
and still gave a track problem in several places. If you have a good grader you can save track. The bigest problem is not the track on pre rain before the pull is the in field parking and pits. We had tarps at arcola and gave up on that 20 years ago.

truck crank 5.2 stroke and a bore of 4.6875 or 4 11/16 will give you 538.4285 CI you will have to put a sleeve in. all the alky engines have a 4.625 bore sleeve to give them 505 with a 5 inch crank. this is a safe engine to build and stay togather.
