Re: BLOOMSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA (October 3) - USA-EAST "FINALS" - 16 years ago
For anyone who hasn’t been to Bloomsburg, PA… I went a few years ago, and it was one of the best run events I’ve ever been to. The crowd was huge and the pull was extremely well run. It’s been a few years since I’ve been, and I’m sure they’ve continued to improve the show and I would highly recommend the trip for both pullers and fans, you should definitely get your money's worth.by Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum

"My Question, My Opinion" on the new NTPA engine/hood combo
- 16 years ago
I fell in Love with pulling because I marvel at a 106 HP tractor putting out 2000 HP. I marvel at what I saw in the fields and what you could truly do with those engines. I’m not a fan of drag racing, I’m not a fan of stock car racing, I not a fan of IRL, I really don’t follow any other motorsport (with the minor exception of evaluating the decisions of their leadership). Re: Any motor any sheet metal makes sense! - 16 years ago
No, the 6030 came with a 531. A 619 is, and has been, a perfectly acceptable replacement motor. This has been discussed in great detail over the years, but no 6030 came from the factory with a 619.by Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum
Light Pro Stock and component chassis - 16 years ago
If the NTPA keeps the current mix and match sheetmetal rule I'm 100% against allowing component chassis in the Light Pro Stock… ever! I know people think I’m joking or being dramatic, but I’m so against this new rule that I really am not interested in any tractor classes that adopt the rule. Other fans can watch them, but I’m not going to care one bit about an IH powered Ford winning a tby Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum
Re: Question about the new ntpa engine sheetmetal rule - 16 years ago
They had a 7500 lb. Super Stock for years and years, and there seemed to be no lack of stock chassis that could make weight. What's the current DSS class? Still plenty of stock chassis tractors in there too. I think the NTPA should have made it 8000 lbs. even but 8500 isn't a bad place to start.by Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum
Re: Any motor any sheet metal does not makes sense! - 16 years ago
These are two separate topics:, this current rule is about mixing and matching any hood over a BBJD or any other stock block. Billet blocks are not my main concern right now. My main concern is this current rule that is proposed. If you want to discuss billet blocks we should start a new thread about billet blocks.by Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum
Look for some of them in the Light Pro Stock soon - 16 years ago
I honestly hope this new rule is not in stone, but if so… I think the Non-component tractors should take a serious look at jumping into the Light Pro Stock class. It’s going to be a high horsepower class with some very exciting rules. I know it’s not the starter class that some people were hoping for, but I think in just a few short years it will be one of pulling’s premier classes. I’d hopby Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum

They are doing this mix and match block and hood in Light Super Stock, Diesel Super Stock, and Pro Stock. This is more than just a Pro Stock issue.by Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum

“Jake have you ever owned a tractor and had the head come off and totally destroy your tractor and possibly injure you or someone in the crowd or track crew?” You answer and say you’ve witnessed it… well… I’ve witnessed it too. My Realistic Solution to Hoods and Engine Blocks - 16 years ago
I agree... that's why I wrote "Fan confusion - Some fans know what’s going on, some don’t" I've consistently said that this won't affect ALL fans. It will turn off a great deal of brand loyal fans, and I believe there are many brand loyal fans out there. Hope that didn't come across as absolutes to anyone. I completely agree with your point on compromise as well. I'by Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum

Here's my short list... - 16 years ago
Brand Loyalty What’s the topic that gets fans fired up the most? How did this sport start? It started by people saying that my brand of tractor is better than yours. Walk through the pits, look at the JD shirts, hats, logos… look at the IH shirts, hats, logos… IH has been defunct for almost 25 years, and fans are still brand loyal… loyal after 25 years! Re: Lock N Load Statement - 16 years ago
Availability has nothing to do with whether something is an OEM replacement. Your specific dealer’s inability to get the block has nothing to do with the block as an OEM replacement. The rules don’t stipulated that you have to buy it at your dealer… buy it directly from Hyper and cut out the middle man. When your 3150 Cat dies, you don’t have to buy your 3208 Cat at your Agco dealer… you canby Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum

I'd agree, the one and only Pro I can think of is more color... but it's not real color, just a Pergo veneer. Mark, I'd love to hear your list of Pros and Consby Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum
Re: Question - Boxler SSD - 16 years ago
Again, this rule does not affect Boxler's. The word I've gotten was the rule was thought out so it WOULD NOT affect any current GN regulars... meaning it would not affect BOXLER'S.by Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum

I knew it was around that year because I believe the New Generation was tested in the Nebraska tests in August of 1960. I thought there were 30 series Two Cylinders built in 1960, but I wasn't 100% sure. Bring on the JD 830 with a V-8 CAT in it... that won't confuse fans any!by Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum

Re: JUST MAKE EVERYONE RUN AN 8.3 CUMMINS AND THEN...... - 16 years ago
John Deere didn't use it in a tractor... It seems like a perfect motor for people to develop though, it does come in a number of tractors now days. I'm totally against a crate motor though... Necessity is the mother of invention - 16 years ago
Necessity is the mother of invention - No one has really developed the 8.3 yet, because there was no need, they could drop in a DT466 and call it an MX285. Yes my option 1 would make people sweat, but it would force people to develop different engines in order to run different hoods. Of course this could only happen if the cubic inch rules were addressed as well. My option 1 is my perfect woby Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum
Re: Jake, Oliver = White = AGCO - 16 years ago
You might be right, and maybe only a few guys will take advantage of this rule, even so: My question to the NTPA is: if only one or two are going to do it, why change the rules? My other question is: is this addressing the root of the problem, or is this addressing a symptom? Re: Nice try! - 16 years ago
It wouldn’t be my first choice, but it would be a HUGE improvement over their new rule! Here are my preferences in order: 1. My first choice is to have the block match the sheetmetal (I know, I’m a purest). 2. My second choice is let every current tractor keep its current sheetmetal, any new tractors must match sheetmetal to engine block. 3. My fourth choice would be to have a list of blby Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum
Re: Nice try! - 16 years ago
Please re-read my post... I understand the lineage full well, infact, I agreed that Guza's were, and are, 100% legal according the the updated sheetmetal provision of the rule book. The new rule has nothing to do with running a DT466 in an MX285, that provision was already written into the rules for UPDATING SHEETMETAL. The old rule allowed you to update to newer sheetmetal, but not crby Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum
Re: Question - Boxler SSD - 16 years ago
Personally, I’m all for a 540 in DSS, regardless of the number of turbochargers or pressure stages. Big cubes have caused too many problems in too many classes. A 540 cubic inch limit is still big, but a little more reasonable.by Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum
Re: Jake, Oliver = White = AGCO - 16 years ago
Brian, The rules have always allowed for the updating of sheetmetal. A Herc with an AGCO hood is no different than a 426 with an AGCO hood. It’s been legal for years and isn’t what this new rule is about. (Personally I do think the rule allowing for updated sheetmetal is what started this whole thing, and in my perfect scenario I think the sport would have been better off if they made theby Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum
Re: Lock N Load Statement - 16 years ago
It’s doesn’t matter how they got the part number, the point is they got the part number and that makes the block a licensed OEM replacement. I don’t like the rule, but they did everything by the book, so it’s not a cheater block, and the NTPA made the decision so it’s 100% legal. My suggestion to anyone else would be to contact a small tractor company like Long, I’m sure with the right convinby Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum

Re: Nice try! - 16 years ago
Nice try, but it’s not an Oliver. The Spirit of Oliver was a WHITE! It is/was a White 185 Field Boss painted Green. If you want to put White 185 sheetmetal on an 8.3 Cummins and paint it Green you would be 100% legal in any class. Just remember though, you are still going to have to register it as a White 185.by Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum

Re: Question - Boxler SSD - 16 years ago
Last I knew the Special had three very large turbos on it. I'm not sure where their cubic inch are at, but I talked with Hans a few years back, and they had tried just about every combination you could think of with that motor. I'm not sure where they settled, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was in the 570 range, but that's just a guess in my part. No matter what their cuby Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum
