Also I don’t know what happened to the Grin and Bair it truck…I’m sure you or someone on here is in the know about that. I haven’t been as up on things as I used to be since I went and got married lol. Also I seen the cream of the crop team has something brewing…don’t know if it will be a 2nd truck or just a new(old) body.

Aluminum clutch cans are breaking. Usually not from clutch/flywheel failures, but the few clutch failures that have occurred have proven the Aluminum cans may not contain the damaged parts.
Also, from what I understand, (and I hope I understand wrong) the SFI testing is for a failed FLYWHEEL only. So the can and liner have to contain the flywheel parts.
The steel and Titanium cans are a

I wouldn't be surprised if the cost to put this event on was near a half million dollars, excluding the purse. You start adding all the little things up and it adds up quick!
The article I posted describes the cost...albeit from 2013.

Honestly, I think some sort of training/education should be required. I remember the first time I hooked at a NTPA pull or any pull for that matter, I barely knew what I was doing and what the procedural steps were...etc. The only way I half-way knew what to do was by watching others. Even today you see some of the most experienced drivers messing with the throttle or gear box while the hook is b

An estimated $33.8M economic Impact in 2013
"The $33.8 million figure does not include $250,000 in operating expenses, $1.7 million in event expenses,
and the money raised by Make-A-Wish, and other volunteer organizations in the area which benefit from
the pull. The NWOTPA also put $700,000 into grandstand improvements at the fairgrounds."

Alpha, I'm not trying to argue here, but maybe the class should go back to being a Regional class, if most don't want to travel to Hutch, Tomah, or Rockwell. National means you have to leave your home state/region to pull. I know the promoters of the above pulls can't be happy with the turnout, and if I were them, I would book a class that will support their "nat

This time of the year it is very difficult to get a decent turnout of competitors in a class with only a few vehicles in the class to begin with. Lots of fairs going on in August and that means a lot of venues wanting a pull. NTPA, OSTPA and PPL all have pulls this weekend that have the SSD truck class. Just be happy you got to see any of them

This guy must be related to the guy in the stands next to me who bet me $20 that Scrappy was going to put 20' on second place and then when he didn't, claim NTPA was rigged, the track was horrible, Scrappy got a bad draw, this would have never happened at an outlaw event...etc. and then wouldn't pay up. haha
p.s. no offense to Scrappy or the Outlaws...etc. I just thought it wa

15k is more than enough. The rolling resistance of those tractors combined is likely less than 15k. I have never tried Harbor Freight but SuperWinch seems to be a decent value winch. I've always considered Warn Winches as my top choice but for a 15K one they are pretty expensive.
I have an 18K Synthetic Rope Super Winch and it works great. Cost is around $1300 compared to a 16.5 Warn SR

If you use the rule of thumb of 20 BTU per sqft your talking about 8000-10,000 BTU but I think that is an underestimate, especially for a "non-Residential" unit.
I installed a 24K BTU 2 head mini-split unit in my 57' trailer with living quarters and it works great with basic insulation in the ceiling. For that length I would definitely install more than one head or unit.

As a add on question I know a lot of pullers keep notes. I'm not asking for all the inside secrets on the tracks, for example there are certain track that you are only going to win if you pull on a certain line, but it would be interesting to start a list of track specs. Length, width, soil type, power track...etc.

I've used both Corsa and RPM. RPM is simple, easy to use, and a great value. Corsa is a premium product at a premium price. Both have great service support. The difference in my opinion is the data logging function is easier to read after the run with Corsa. Everything on one screen and synced.

Guess we could say the same thing about farmers? I see them buying new equipment all the time but complaining about profit going down, while food prices go up, exponentially plus the low interest loans, federal assistance....etc.
(obviously, this isn't how I really feel about farmers, growing up on one myself but it's the same logic)

Well said... you could also insert "health care" instead of "college". EVERY time the government gets involved it becomes more expense and less efficient.
Except now government payments for Healthcare services has slowly been declining over the last several years and private insurance is the one that is increasing. Overall spend is up but the cost per service has decreased.

Kind of like the price for a college education. They convinced everyone they need one and then jacked the price to the moon multiple times the rate of inflation.
One thing I'd say about college education is the experience is very different today than say even 20 years ago. Part of the reason college is so expensive is look at the facilities these kids have today, look at

CP does that mean we will see pull offs at TPC?
TriplAlphaProcess that is why the full pull mark needs to be announced before the class starts or like NTPA a set distance. Not announced or made 1/2 to 3/4 of the way through the class. Then pullers know right away they are coming back and not to keep pushing it past that mark and can be prepared. Most sleds these days are pre

In theory this sounds great, in the real world it won't work. If a puller is in a pulloff and his class has run first then there is a strong likelihood that he will have to wait 3-5 hours for his pulloff. And the way some pulls are run the pullers will be hooking in front of empty stands.
As a puller I would rather wait 3-4 hours for a pull off than to have to rush just to

Here's an option. Run all the classes and have the pull offs at the end of the show. Give plenty of time for recovery. Also, for the fans it's an incentive to stay until the end for the grand finale. The two caveats are the main show needs to be fast (limit sled resets) and sled changes need to be quick and smooth between classes during the pull off.

Just wondering where have all the pulling semi’s gone? Bonner and Lindsey come to mind - and I think they had 2 trucks each.
There are at least 6-7 in MN alone but this was an invitational in April. I don't think it's indicative of the class numbers.

Thank you for sharing such a profound perspective. I couldn't agree more. I wrote an article several years ago that advocated every class drop their respective weight by 10%. Needless to say I got plenty of pushback. In fact I had some pullers tell me they needed more weight, nor less.
As a competitor I started in the 2.6 diesel 4x4 class where every year you needed to u
