How close do the 366 pistons run to the counter-bore size? Can the counter-core be left as is? And how much work needs to be done to the piston to fit it in? I was looking at this with my machinist, but he didn't really get what I was saying, and was not interested in custom parts! LOL

The problem is that the sleeves have a counter bore at the top, so you would have to use a sleeve to fill that, then get it all smooth to put the 301 piston in. I would suggest rebuilding it as a 291, as they use sleeves. You will still need to bore the block to get the bigger sleeves in. I would love to get the measurements of the counter bore to see if an oversized piston could be used at th

I wish I could remember where I have seen one, perhaps the for sale pages here, or YT, but I know I remember seeing an 84 series with a turbo set up for pulling. Looked pretty cool, but I have no idea what the rear is capable of, or what was done to the engine to make power.

5000 is the extreme low end on the 666. For comparison, my 686 diesel is the same basic tractor. With a wide front, cast wheels, 18.4-38, fenders and 3-pt, ready for the farm it weighs 8000. I have pulled it years ago with pressed steel 38's. narrow front, otherwise ready for the field at 7000. The 766 is gonna struggle to get below 9500 in stock trim. Narrow front, pressed wheels, and

It can be done to nearly any IH or farmall- even an H! But how long the tranny/rear hold up is dependant on how you build it and how much HP you are going for.

Thanks Ryan! I was figuring there would be some info about it somewhere. Are they running any hot classes at all this year?

I haven't heard anything about the New Vienna pull. According to HTPA's site it is on the 9th, but that's all I've heard. Anyone on here know more? Are they having a gas street truck class? What other classes are they having? Who is the contact person? Thanks!

The scale does work well when it's on a solid surface. But do they have a solid surface for it?

Does the scale typically run accurate at this pull? Or is it 1000 pounds off like Lancaster? Makes the difference between stripping my tractor a little or bringing weights! LOL

I will do that when we get closer to the date. I will talk to some others around here and maybe have three trucks coming together.

I've never heard of a factory axle being hollow. 806, and even 706 rear ends are being used extensively in pullers with serious hp, so I wouldn't worry at all about it.

I see the street pickups are pulling Friday night with the antiques this year. I assume they will be later in the night, correct? Hate to have to rush milking and be done by 4 just to be there at 6 and watch 4 hours of tractors before I pull. The site says two tracks- is that correct?

Boscobel has truck classes this weekend, split between big blocks and small blocks. for the rules and particulars. Retreat WI has pickup classes with half ton, and 3/4 or bigger being the class split. I think it is late sept, but keep an eye on this board when it gets closer. And you are certainly welcome to come down to Lancaster on the 18th.

Give your general area and it would help. Not much good for me to tell you there is a class in Lancaster WI on Sat the 18th if you are in, say Ohio or Nebraska....

Our friends from across the pond may be the best resource on those engines. I think it was Sascha who was telling about putting inline pumps on them. Don't quote me but I think the 310 will accept a P-pump.

Truck blocks area bit shorter in height. But ag blocks are pretty cheap. Getting the Ag 360 crank will cost you, though.

How do you define stock gas trucks?
by

You can use a 312/360 ag block, 360 ag crank and 806 pistons to get 407 cubes. It's not cheap or easy, but this is pulling after all! You can also stick big money in the head, using 414 valves. That may work even with a stock bottom end.

My engine is getting them put in as well. They are aftermarket, but I don't know who has them. I will ask my machinist and get back to you.

310 is a German designed engine, and I doubt you can swap anything between them. Without a doubt you would be better off with a 312, 360 or even the German 310 would likely be better than the 282. But if you need to keep the factory block, use a D 301 from a 715 combine.

If you're on a budget, a running engine is much better than doing an overhaul. 1500 will buy you a 466 most any day, and a running 360 should be closer to 1000. Of course, like 1466 ih says, if you are allowed the big one, go for it!
