Looks like LSS needs added to your list of growing classes.

I would agree with "Tape measure" , leave the LSS alone. Actually there has been 3 or 4 new tractors built over the last few years ! Why mess up something that is showing some growth ?

MSD 8 Plus is used by quite a few. Electromotive Systems is being used by some LLSS, but not sure about the 100 PSI of boost you are planning on running. Heard that some LSS are running Mags.

Wouldn't call it game changer, but sure was unique. Milton Bergman's modified tractor where he actually set out front of the engines. That had to be quite an experience to pull down the track!

I would run an open rear end and individual brakes on each rear axle so you can steer it going down the track. The only other way to steer it would being able to lean from side to side. In that case you could run any of the three you mentioned. I prefer the open differential and brakes on each axle. I guess you can try it with a spool and just lean. If it doesn't work out , you will have to

You may want to put a Dana 70 rear end in the chassis. The 9" ford will break sooner than later, especial if your running 18.4x16 tires. Been there and done that. Call Todd @ TRB machine.Zeeland, MI Phone: (616) 875-7673, he will put you in the right direction. P.S. The 9" may hold up if your running the 15.50x15 small tires.

We used Factory IH rods with 1.625 piston pins. We also had them heat treated and resized. The IH rod is not as wide as the Deere rod on the Crankshaft journal, so we just let them float and never had any problems.

The best running John Deere engine i had was a 585 cu. in. The bore was 4.750" and the stroke was 5.500". I'm sure there is other ways to get there, but this is what i did.

Depending on how nice of a set of tires you have, you might use some older worn tires. Cinder tracks will take the edge right off the tire.

On a more positive note; Now that NTPA has outlawed the 903 cummins, maybe we will see if those tractors [903 cummins] really were causing low #'s in the class. Let's watch and see how this all plays out. Might be good or might be Open Super's nightmare. I still enjoy watching the Open Super Stock tractors.

These Combo. class have always had problems. Always seems the pullers are at a disagreement and want a handicap of some kind. It's hard to have a level playing field with the vast amount of changing technology. The Open Alcohol Super Stocks make a lot of HP and are fun to watch and drive for that matter. Too bad more tractors aren't being built.

Watched all 4 days via live stream. Congratulations to Butch for 40 years of announcing! Dan did an amazing job. Clear Voice, easy to understand and knew his facts. He was refreshing to listen too! Although he didn't get much Mic time. Dave Bennet, not so much. Biggest problem Dave has is he tries awful hard to be funny. Also He could use a refresher coarse in public speaking . Tries to ac

Reply to RCP, In most rule books it states "NO PRESSURIZED TANKS ALLOWED" ! This might apply to the idea you had about using boost to pressurize the water tank. Guess you would have to ask your Tech Man.

i used belt drive Enderle or Hilborn fuel injection pump that i bought used at a racers swap meet. I put an spring loaded bypass set to the pressure i wanted in the return line from the injection pump. Worked out great. These pumps are designed for fuel and can be bought reasonable at racers swap meets.

Now that I recall, Yantees had Crutchfield build a custom billet aluminum head for a 8.3 L cummins engine on Alcohol for the Light Super Stock. I think they had ran some Region Pulls with it, but not sure how everything worked out. Always wondered how well the block would hold up on an Alcohol version of the cummins 8.3 L ?

Over the years several pullers have built and may still use 8.3 L Diesel Cummins engines. Has anyone used this engine in Lgt Pro 540 cu. in. ? Were the engines successful? Just setting here in the arctic chill wondering if 8.3 L cummins engines ever made there mark in the Pulling World ? If i recall the cylinder heads didn't flow that well, but don't remember.

That was when Pro Stock pulling was fun ! Older sheet metal, cast rear end, small block engines and 4.5" Turbos. Funny part is the Pro Stock class put on a great show back then as well. Look what it has evolved into ???? That's Progress they say !!! Aahh the Good Ole Days !!! Brings back many memories.

This is a picture of a John Deere 4300 Diesel Pulling Tractor that Tim & I built back in 2001. It was close to the same rules as listed. I used a 3 cylinder tractor engine out of a Ford 3600. Crower slipper clutch, TRB Gearbox & 18.4 Mini Rod tires. I think it weighted around 2300# . It was a lot of fun to Pull and had a great time. I decided to build a Super Farm in 2003 and sold this tractor to

Back in 2006 I built a John Deere Super Farm from the ground up with new 7820 sheet metal, 640 engine w/ parts from REI. Did 85% of the work myself. Still cost me $95,000 [ No Labor figured in ] to build. Won my State Championship and sold it the following spring for $80,000 for a down payment on a family Farm.
