Pn: 177272 is popular with a 90 housing, it is a pn of a turbo that a class of local 11,000 hot stock farms run and they are limited to this turbo and the pn: 177209 with a 100 housing turbo.....466 cubic inch limit. Any motor over 466 cubic inches must have factory stroke and bore for that brand of tractor, up to a maximum of 585 cubic inches, an rpm of 2950, but you can use water injection and

I remember we used to have farm stock classes that were based on weight and hp range. They had a pto dyno on site for any in question. Had to stay within 15% or so of book #s and rpm. Example: 8,500lb class + up to 90hp. 10,500lb + up to 125hp. Etc. If your tractor booked more hp, you had to pull the higher weight class. Worked out well.
Just the notion of that alone would k

QuoteKeep it real.
In the modern way of tractor pulling. Where it is all about how fast you can get the sled moving before it slams to a stop. There won't likely ever be a class for a true, straight off the farm, "farmstock" tractor. . I was at a pull last summer where the sleds pushdown had broken. The sled operator only had one heavy farmstock 12,500lb class left to pull at the event. His

why wouldn't you use a washer?
The new style head bolts from IH has a flanged type hex head instead of a plane hex that the old ones have, so according to the book it is not required to have washers for them. If I was to get the Cat or Fastenal bolts, I will be using washers unless the bolts have flanges which would have washers basically built into them right? The way it loo

Ok I will do price comparison of both. What are the lengths that you all would use? I have an IH book that tells me the exact size but I don't want to guess and you won't find the exact sizes of the bolts and since I don't want to pay for IH's high prices....the book says for the new ones with a flange built in to where you don't need a washer:8.82" for the long and 6.38

Has anyone used cat head bolts on a 400 series IH? I have heard using them was a better, stronger and cheaper option for head bolts compared to using caseIH bolts and a cheaper option than studs. Does anyone have the specs or part numbers to the caterpillar bolts if so?

The torque finger is on the very top of the mechanism that goes back and forth from the front and back, I don't have my book to look and see what it is actually called but I think it's called the fuel fulcrum or something of that sorts...don't forget where it was so you can return it back where it was....
Here read through this:

I have tried an s2e on mine and yes it will spin it but I have had better luck with a 3lm. With the s2e I was getting about the same hp and boost as the to4 and little more torque so I didn't see the need to waste the money. Set the timing to 20* turn the pump up all the way and put a 3lm or similar turbo on and have fun. I've heard the s300 works but I have experience with them but ha

Try loosening the adjustment on the dump valve and the transmission brake a little bit
Will do....thank you for your help!
I'll probably be needing a TA sooner than later the way it sounds though lol.

I don't think it will but it will be annoying. I assume you mean by jolting it feels similar to a downshift of the ta?
Yes sir!

Did you check the pressure after you changed the springs? Sounds like your clunk is the high side clutch dropping off and the sprag locking in, which would be worse when in gear. Sometimes the heavy spring will coil bind and send the pressure to high and cause lots of bad things to happen.
Yes I did, I don't remember exactly what it is at this time but it was around the 300psi r

I've got something wrong with my MVC valve on my 966 IH, I rebuilt the valve and put new 1566-1586 MCV valve springs in to bump up the psi to the TA. I have noticed that when I push the clutch in, sometimes there is a clunk sound under my feet and I can feel it in the peddle when in gear or out of gear, it seems worse in gear at times and the tractor seems to almost jolt when it does this in

I'd recommend an S300 instead of the 3LM. Will give you a bit more air and will be a lot more reliable in the field. If you want to get rid of that Solar id be interested.
Which s300, there's so many models, housings ect....?
This one?

I have a 766 that had a gas and I put a d414 out of a 966 in it with a good fuel system and turbo and knock on wood no issues yet, still has as far as I know a stock TA! I don't plan on going higher in rpms so I just got a super heavy duty 14" pressure plate, 6 button clutch and stock flywheel and 20.8x38 and no problems yet pulling 250HP in 10500, 11000,12000 and 13000 5mph and 8mph. Just throwing this out there, but it would really help draw a crowd and maybe more pullers if the pulls would be on say a Friday night and or Saturday and Saturday night not on a Sunday and a Monday. People have to get ready for work and go to work on those days. If it wasn't on the days that it is on, a bunch of people around me and myself would be able to attend, just changing the days wou

Should be 210cc with stock injectors at this time and I like to keep it at 2600. Okay Ian so you think and s360 would spool ok on a 414 with a .88 housing for 5mph-8mph pulling in 1 high in 5mph and 2 high in 8mph.....kind of forgot to mention that. Would also the s360 dimensions be about the same as a 3lm?

What size of s300 turbo would a IH414 be able to spin? I've seen on the AC forum someone was having better luck using a s300 62/68/.88 turbo for their AC 220 farm tractor with 220+hp and that he also said if a person was to use the s300 for less HP to go with 62/65/.88 but I can't find that size anywhere and the 426 is close enough to the 414 can someone point me in a direction I can go
