cpr, totally agree, that much mass moving at that speed is vertically impossible to stop in that short amount of time. It's not you just pull the throttle back and everything comes to a sudden stop.

Buckeye fan, why would you trash someone, anyone that drove hundreds of miles and spent countless hours getting to put on a show for the fans. Makes no sense at all. And once again my name is on my post, where's yours?

Mark, I believe that you have a flawed concept that limits drive up the cost. To follow your logic a 680 PS should cost less than a SF. The PS class has more "wide open rules" hence cheaper to build and operate. And a LLSS should be more expensive that a OSS. The fact is every class in pulling has limits, even the Unlimited Mods, limits in lower HP classes makes them affordable, less breakage,

I started to think about the NTPA situation last weekend in Florida and I realized that it could happen to any organization, be it state, regional or national pulling. My comments were to hash and judgemental. Most fans don't really know what organization is putting on the show, they see trucks and tractors going down the track. Hopefully they will be entertained and will keep coming back.

Dan, thanks for your post, sounds like the Saturday show was a real well run event. Any time hooks are under 3 minutes that is certainly running a fast, exciting show.

I will make it simple, people ( fans ) buy a ticket to enjoy an event, they have every right to expect to get their monies worth. I'm sure that when you go shopping and don't like the service you jump right behind the check out station and lend a hand.

Unfortunately the NTPA has a history of not running fast, exciting shows. There is no sense of urgency, they almost forget that there people in the stands, fans! They have moved some of the high HP classes to earlier in the show which only means that some classes now have the later spots. That's not a fix, it's a bandaid, maybe speed up the show and that problem will go away. And who

I remember when in 2013 Super Bowl 47 the lights went out for 34 minutes. There is no bigger sporting event than the Super Bowl, yet the lights went out. Things happen, however I will agree that the time between hooks is something within their power to control , that the NTPA can certainly do much better. And I wonder who's responsibility it was to check if there was indeed a noise curfew?

Interesting post, I've said for years that the modern sled is far and away the biggest development in the sport. They make or break the show, they let each class get good ground speed going down the track and then they stop them around the 320 foot mark. The tremendous HP that they are able to control is amazing. Couple that with their reliability and appearance it certainly is one of the

Will the cost of fuel keep fans away, will pullers pick and choose the events that the will attend? This post is not going to play the blame game. How does this impact farming, trucking, small businesses? My experience is the oil companies will raise prices in one day and take one month to lower them.

Does the winter pulling schedule have to many shows? It seems like in the last few years there has been new event after new event. It's getting so crowded that now events are being scheduled on the same weekend, further diluting the available vehicles. Unfortunately weather, travel issues, family commitments are also pullers concerns.

Josh, all that is true, however not much of that increased HP translates to a much different show from 40 years ago.

Patches, couldn't agree more. And you're right it's almost to late for any real changes in the 4000+ HP range of pulling vehicles, that's why all the growth is in HF, Lmt.PS, and Lt.PS.

I wrote an article about changing the BG show and you would think I had advocated burning the flag,, don't mess with BG, what are you crazy,,,,. Well what show would you be willing to see try my format happen? The answer is none, not one. I remember when the NMFS changed to order of the trophy presentation from presenting the awards from 3 then 2 then 1st, just like every other sporting ev

Patches, I'm curious, tell me what you don't like about my idea. Doesn't seeing all the GN classes one session on a Saturday night have any interest to you? Or is the idea of limiting all classes to no more than 25 the issue for you? Thanks for your response.

Now that BG has started limiting the number entries ( Lmt. PS ) I would like to see BG run their events somewhat with the same format as the Fendt High Stakes Series. While I realize that the pullers are paying a portion of the purse running the Fendt Series, I think that BG could do it slightly different and make it work. How I see this working is this; limit all classes to 25 vehicles to be dec

avercusauto, your idea of running different vehicles together is interesting, however your different weights are to high. Today's PS tractors are all components, sure built heavy yet there is weight to lose.

And that's the problem, 680 cubic inches is just plain ridiculous, granted nobody in the beginning of the class ever though that PS would be getting the HP that it is now, and 640 for SF and Lmt.PS is equally ridiculous. It's always comes back to terrible rules. However the question is still the same, engine or sheet metal?

So if all the engines are basically the same then why are almost PS puller running JD blocks?

Day later yes that exactly the problem with pulling, look what that did to NASCAR, fewer fans, boring races, and they are taking thousands of seats out of tracks not adding. And MG1206 I'm not sure if you didn't just prove my point. And you said we didn't a big deal until ,,,,, Jake and I have been writing about the day after the NTPA made the rule " any sheet metal, any engine

Should a tractor be called a JD, CaseIH, Fendt if the engine is a SBJD or BBJD ? Is it the sheet metal or the engine that makes the tractor. And yes pulling will never tell the fans what is really powering the tractor down the track. And before anyone says that the fans really don't care, I beg to differ, alot of fans really think it's a New Holland, Fendt, or any other off brand.

I would love to see less turbo rules. Smooth cover, go/no go gauge, on the inlet side that's it. Less teching, more innovation.

Alkyfan, if the blocks are all the same why then do they run a JD block under red sheet metal? Or a New Holland or a Fendt? Why not a Fendt block? That's what a crossdresser is, it's pretty basic.

And what happens when they go to a larger turbo? You don't think Unlimited PS, PS, Limited,,,, Lmt.PS and Light,,, Lt PS tells them that ? Those numbers mean nothing to the fans, just another confusing mess.
