There is a fair amount of transmission gears that can be swapped around with some machine work. I have done a couple but your best bet is to call Brad Maibach at Maibach tractor in Ohio, he has taken the time and made a spread sheet of what gears are interchangeable with ratio.

Just use bolts with fender washers and silicone washers. Have several running that way. If your club doesn’t Bitch bout it run the atlas intake it is of no power advantage it’s identical on the inside but thicker to the outside as there is less room to get mounting bolts in.

Can’t remember if 16xx are the same shaft but 17xx up should all be the same. Get on agco’s parts books n study the tooth counts. The first easy thing to do is put the white 2-150 high range set in. They are faster due to the low rpm moline engine. That is just input/counter gears and you don’t have to tear the rear end apart. To get multiple gears then you will have to change counter/pinion

1955 or 2-105. They have ring gear bearing support and support plates around the bull shaft housing. A lot of gear swapping in transmissions can get you a good selection of gears

Diameter x pie / 360 x degree of offset
For example if your gear is 6”. 6 x 3.14 = 18.84 / 360 (360 degrees in rotation) = .052 per degree x 4 = .208 = amount to offset if gear is 6’

Scott Larson I agree with your opinion they look terrible on the inside but we tried one on the Dyno and was actually 5 horse better. I believe we got from one of the salvage yards that sells new parts as well. Possibly worthington but don’t remember right off hand.

Not trying to steal the thread but a lot of talk here about a light weight Oliver rear/chassis. I currently have a 1650 rear with 88 axles and wedge frame that was built at maibach tractor that I need to sell. Was set up with 2-155 hoods

Not sure if it would be hot enough to melt the tube, I think the concern is that the fumes are strong enough to ignite inside the tube if a spark occurred. This will piss a lot of noise makers off but I would do away with them indoors. A lot people go sick for a week after an indoor event with alcohol fumes

Debating if I want to go thru the mix n match of stock gears again to get ratios I want. Was thinking bout machining off the cast around the tranny to make room for a profab but I guess since the Oliver is already twin countershaft would be easier to just have gears made

i started the thread on the axles and wanted to chime in here with another question, been awhile since ive been in the rearend of an oliver, if i remember correctly there are holes in the casting that allow the rearend and transmission to share the same oil and i think oil would work through the pinion bearing as well, i would like to block this off, making a plate over the holes would be simple

is the housing it self longer? Looked in the parts book and only has one part number for housing but 2 for the axle. Cant the axle just be cut?

im looking through agco parts online and looks like it may be possible, looks like they just put a gear over the bull pinion shaft to mate with the smaller bull gear in the 2255. I would have to change everything. Probly be more simple to try and sell my chassis and start out with a 1955, it has an extra bearing support against the ring gear. I was just trying to use my current chassis cause i

Can the planetary axles, bull gear, and ring n pinion be taken off a 2255 rear end housing and regular axle with its bull gear and ring n pinion be install. The axle housing bolt pattern looks to be the same but been awhile since I have been inside to see if the bull gears can be swapped. And if so would the ratio still be close to the same. Just exploring my options. Already have a 2255 chass

This has been discussed before on here, the old thread someone might have left some part numbers. Get on a marine website and look for a helm pump and cylinder. This is whats used to steer boats, make your own brackets and probly get by for half the money. If you want a quick bolt on kit call pobar. Its not as easy to steer as power steering but is 10 times better than rack n pinion

I think its six of one and half a dozen another. We work on two tractors pretty much making same horsepower and torque and they swap wins throughout the year. I would say one tire probly works better depending on the track so if you like to work a lot buy both and change them accordingly at the pull lol
