Jake,
If the rev limiter is set to 8500 won't it do the same thing? It won't control the hole shot, but would keep from over revving at a bounce or loose spot on the track.
I agree with Craig that we need to circle back and define exactly what is allowable and what we want to keep out. As above, a tightly set rev limiter takes care of one of the conditions you are offering as evid

I’m curious why you think it’s funny. I don’t know Jeff but agree that he is a lot like Force. If you statement is based upon Force being X time world champion you might want to look at who Force was before he got big money sponsors.

If the diff is galled you will have the opposite problem, can't turn when trying to drive up to the sled and can't correct a drift going down the track. If it magically starts spinning both you probably galled it up and now have a posi.
Not a Case expert but I agree that if it's the same tire you probably have drag in that side. It addition to the brake it could be a bearing.

I have a slide hammer that will accept a 1/4” bolt. Used it between the teeth and worked back and forth around the ring gear.

A while back when someone was looking for more weight ‘for safety’ someone suggested lowering the hitch. I’m starting to like that idea, then the only debate becomes do we lower it one or two inches. Keeps them from putting more power down while lessening the front weight requirement.

So these diesel guys are running 3.0 smooth bore turbos? Cause that's what non-whiners would be running...

I don’t know why engine size would matter on the effectiveness of an inter cooler. Know of some guys that ran pretty close to what you have and they ran one.

The $3,000,000 would be gross receipts, not profit. You need to subtract the cost to rent Freedom Hall and Broadbent, which I’m sure is substantial, plus workers for the building. All that dirt doesn’t get moved in and out for free either. Sled rental, smoke machine...
I have no idea if or how much profit they make, but I doubt it is anywhere close to your numbers.

It’s time for the leadership of pulling to stop asking the pullers what they want and write rules that will keep the sport healthy. I have the feeling that in public must pullers will tell you don’t want their class backed down at all, however in private they are just waiting for some common sense rules that help them to be able to afford to compete in the class and sport that

PPL & Outlaw are allowing twin 3x4’s on the 360’s, not any size as you and Real LL are implying. A few groups in MO allow any size twin 360 at 6100 vs 410 3x4 at 6400, but that is not what they are talking about here.

Well, I know from experience that at least some 4430 have a different shift collar on the A & D range. We put a custom gear in a 4430 Quad D range and the first gear didn’t fit, different diameter and tooth count on the shift collar. Looking in the parts book, the quad and synchro have different parts listed.
As far as where to put it, yes, typically the custom gear goes in the 2/5 - B slot,

I’m not down there but it was said on here earlier that Ole Rags was running a 3x4.
This isn’t just alky vs diesel, what I don’t understand is why the 410 intercooled tractors only need a 3x4, but the 470 needs a bigger charger. 60 CID doesn’t make up for an inter cooler? Has anyone taken an engine proven to be competitive in one of the many tough 466 classes and put it in a LLSS? The first

Atlas makes them. Also, what slot are you putting it in? Deere used a different shift collar on the Quad transmissions for the A and D range gears. The synchro was the same for all ranges and matches the 4020.

IIRC his name is Bob, he is from Marthasville MO, and his company is B Builder or something similar. I don't have his contact info but Haslag should be able to help you out with it. For simply rolling a bead on a sidesheild Haslag may be able to do that themselves.
He did some work for Justin Edwards so he or Scott Crow could probably also provide contact info.

I'm not sure how to fund it, but how about a bounty on a diesel tractor winning a GN LSS class? If it could start at $500 and increase each hook it might be interesting how may would hook the class and take a shot if it became large.

I haven't done this myself, but I believe there are 466 Deere's built both with a stock 8.1 stroke & ~4.4 pistons and with 4.25 bore (or smaller) and a longer crank. I believe it comes down to how much bore your head guy needs to flow the air. More stroke is better up to the point that the cylinders don't fill. The other thing to consider is replacement parts when something brea

No, to take a 2.75" journal @ 5" stroke to 4.25" stroke without welding the journal would be 2" & in reality would need to be a bit under to ensure the grinder hits all the way around.
Yes, cranks can be stroked and destroked by welding on material before grinding. Southern Ill Crankshaft used to do quite a few of them but I think they are out of business. Not sure who still does them now.

I had some made. Measure the sleeve OD, use feeler gauges tommeasure the gap, and make them a little loose on both dimensions. I had them made flat and used a grinder to fit them, they don't have to be perfect, just need to keep the wires from sliding off the sleeve flange. Make sure they are not taller than the sleeve so they don't contact the head.
