Saw on Facebook that Chuck Knapp has the whole operation for sale due to health issues.
Let the speculation begin.

My son was part of a team that built a quarter scale tractor in college for an international competition sponsored by ASABE.At that time you could as many 16 hp Vangard engines as you could fit on a 950 lb. vehicle without the driver, they figured out how to put 6 on it. Part of the competition is a pulling contest. They had their own sled they could practice and tune with, and they had a strain

I don’t remember at all where or when it was, just remembered that they tried it way back when.

I guess my memory is okay. Looks like there was still a lot of smoke. Maybe it will work better now.

Didn’t they try this way back when at either Indy or Louisville? Seems I remember reading or hearing that Arron’s put a turbine on the sled with the idea being there was enough fuel coming out the exhaust on the diesels to run the turbine.
Getting old, maybe I’m remembering something that was just talked about but never happened.

I was at that pull as well. Also saw him run at Indy. Heard the announcer say at least a portion of all those hoses actually did something.

Change the crank to a bit longer stroke. I’m having a brain fart and can’t remember, but I think my 358 is .125 over stock stroke with a stock bore. Easy to figure it. Do yourself a favor and go ahead and get a Dart block if your rules allow.
Or do as the other poster suggested and go to the LS engine. Getting to be lots of aftermarket parts for them.

Just another idiot blaming the tool and not the person holding it.
Nobody blames the car when some nut drives into a crowd, but it’s always the gun’s fault when a shooting happens.

The “farm stock” guys will tell you “It doesn’t look like a farm tractor if it has a cage”. Anyone but the most casual fan knows that anything that can drag the sled in road gear (or faster) isn’t pulling a planter or a plow. Most (but not all) require a ROPS, but I would argue that is not as safe as a cage. Have yet to see skis on any farm stock.

I’d include all the so called “farm stock” classes that go down the track at 25+ MPH.

Backyarditis gets all of us.
I had corn yield from 13-287 this year. In the same pass through the field. Lowest and highest yield in the same pass. Overall average about 20% under APH.

The yields are often adjusted down the road, as are useage numbers. Didn’t say they were releasing bogus numbers, just that they often get revised.
And no big deal, but acreage reporting date is July 15.

A twin engine modified class was added, not sure what the weight is. Know a guy building for it, and a track judge said they thought there would be at least 6 tractors ready to go. Also not sure what the cubic inch and blower rules are.

I’d say they could easily take in $250,000+ on entry fees and pit passes. 250 stock cars, which they will get, would be $125,000 in entries, figure 4 pit passes (or more) per car. Will get plenty of late models and modifieds as well, some of them will have bigger pit crews, so more pit passes. Add in a good gate, which this kind of show will draw, and I’d say the chances of making a profit are be

Back up girls and guys are a long time fixture in NHRA. Haven’t heard that referred to as being unprofessional. I can’t turn my head far enough to look behind me when I have my straps fastened, even if they are still loose, as I have more of a containment type seat with sides on it around the rib cage. I don’t see a huge number of guys having to pull up and respot the vehicle, Sotheby’s back up p
