The little picture is called an avatar, it can be anything you'd like (as long as it's appropriate for all ages). All you need to do is create an image that’s 200 pixels wide by 100 pixels tall (a little cropping and resizing will probably be required). Re: 6500 LSS at Cloverdale - 16 years ago
I personally think this was the biggest news of the weekend. Unfortunately it’s been overshadowed by parking in a muddy a bean field (I would have been a little upset too!), but now that the bean field dust (mud) has settled, maybe we can be back to some of the good points of the weekend, so… Klint, thank you for running the diesels and alcohols together with a 500 lb. weight break (Diesel LSby Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum
BBJD Super Stock - 16 years ago
I think it would have to be a Big Block JD motor, I don’t think a SBJD would live with three turbos at 640 cubes. There are a couple tractors out there exactly like the combo you mentioned, I haven’t seen them run yet, but I’ve heard they are quite impressive, and they’re still not completely dialed in yet. Lustik’s would know all the details, but I believe they are very similar to what you dby Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum
Re: Cloverdale - Friday Evening Results - 16 years ago
Rocky, Thank for the results, they are greatly appreciated. I would have loved to see the LSS class, and I’m glad to see Esdon get a win against some of the best Light alcohol tractors. That diesel vs. alcohol rivalry could really heat up in that class and that’s a great thing from a fans perspective.by Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum

I think the point "The Original Michael" was making is: PPL scheduled Hamburg against Bowling Green as well as against Pike (Pike is about 45 miles away and ESP is a PPL member state). Since… PPL decided to schedule Hamburg against BG… "The Original Michael" has decided not to support PPL at Indy. Poll Results - 16 years ago
I’m not real surprised at the results, people love smoke and color, and Pro Stock cleaned up with Light Super Stock coming in second. Now if only we had a Light Pro Stock with a lower cubic inch limit we could have the best of both worlds! Re: Difference Between methanol and alcohol - 16 years ago
There is no difference, methanol is alcohol. Well, it’s an alcohol (there are many, many different chemical formulas for alcohols), but as far as I know it’s the only legal alcohol to use in pulling. Methanol is also known as methyl alcohol.by Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum
Hold water in a track - 16 years ago
I’m not an expert track builder by any means so take this for what it’s worth… (I was at one point in my life a Geologist that focused Groundwater and Soil contamination for whatever that’s worth)… From that and some feedback I’ve heard through some track builders… organic material can help hold water in soil. Hooter's Scooter - 16 years ago
The chassis is in Jason’s shop, not Mark’s. Mark’s got other projects going on in his shop. The shortblock is mounted in the chassis, and the hood and fenders are already mounted. Mark's still got the head, turbos, plumbing, and fuel system in his shop. I looked over the new chassis this past Saturday and it looked great. This is probably one of the best classes of LSS tractors ever put together. The event sure looks like it’s going to be an amazing show. After the blistering wheel speed in Gordyville, I really hope Esdon can lay down a nice straight pass so we can see how the King of Smoke really stacks up against the top 504 alky burners. It will definately be an awesome show. I’m more than a little disappby Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum
Re: Light PS and Light SF - 16 years ago
I understand your concern, but AC, JD, IH, Ford/NH all easily made the 7500 lb. Super Stock. Most had four turbos and still had plenty of movable weight. Yes some aluminum parts will need to be used to lighten the tractor up, but that’s been happening in this sport for years and years. Sure there may be a little cutting and grinding, but that’s also part of taking a stock chassis and using itby Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum
Re: Light PS and Light SF - 16 years ago
First, ALL classes are limited! Even the Unlimited Mod and Unlimited Super Stock are limited classes. Don’t let their names fool you. Second, a 510 cubic inch class would allow for all colors to be competitive, and not cater to just a couple of manufacturers. How many Ford Pro Stocks do you see? Not too many! Why...? How many Ford tractors do you see in the “Light or Limited” classes? Tby Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum
Re: Light PS and Light SF - 16 years ago
Just curious… why don't you like the overhead cam on stock heads in Light Pro Stock? If it comes from the factory that way shouldn't you be able to run your stock head? I think the Light Super Farm would grow extremely quickly; there are already a ton of tractors that are close to these limits. ORVTPA and Missouri are already running something similar. Light PS and Light SF - 16 years ago
The thread below is getting a little long... Here’s my revised rules for a Lightweight Pro Stock class. I tried to incorporate most of the ideas that people suggested. I think this class would be a blast to watch, and I think it would be a very interesting class to build a tractor for. Again, this is not a cheap class (see Light Super Farm below for a limited alternative), but I think it woby Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum
Re: Who'll get biggest crowd: Hamburg or Pike? - 16 years ago
I think Pike will get a better crowd than Hamburg. If the weather is good I’d expect the bleachers on the Pike hillside to be completely full as usual. I hope Hamburg does well, but I honestly think it's a very, very bad decision to go up against Pike, as well as to go up against all the other weekend events in WNY. I don’t remember the billet block issue ever being resolved. I’m not sure where you got that impression. I don’t even remember this billet block issue being resolved by any one particular class. The pullers in the classes still disagree on billet blocks, heck the pullers in the class still disagree about the cast Hypermax block. Re: decubeing - 16 years ago
Personally I’ve got nothing against decubing. If someone wants to run a IH 550, Cat 573, JD 531/619, Cat 636, or Perkin 640 in a 505 class that’s fine by me. If they can get their motor down to the 505/510 limit then I see no reason to not let it run.by Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum
Two classes - 16 years ago
I’ve talked about this class with my father and a close friend for a few years now. Actually all three of us agree that pulling really needs two new 510 diesel classes: One that’s a full blown 510 Pro Stock class (any charger, any pump, etc…) and One that a 510 Super Farm type class (P-pump, Stock heads, 3x4 or 4.1 type charger, etc…) Personally I’m more interested in watching the 510 Prby Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum

505 with a 1% variance is 510. (Personally I think the variance is stupid, just make the limit set in stone with no variance, (510 in this case) but that’s a debate for a different thread). I don’t like different weights for component and non-component tractors. Horsepower is created in the engine, not the rear-end. In Nascar a Ford is still powered by Ford. Nascar knocked the cubes back and the sport grew. I completely agree regarding some of Nascar’s antiquated rules. If Nascar is smart I think they will probably eventually adopt updated engine rules. I’m not a Nascar expert, but common sense makes me predict that the engine limits in Nascar’s future will be smaller than they currently allow. It wouby Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum

There are a few reasons why I don’t like billet blocks: - I don’t think they will be a long term solution. - I don’t think they will stay brand specific in the long term. It will evolve to the same billet block for any hood. - I think the block is the heart of a tractor, it’s not the cab, it’s not the tires, it’s not the rear-end, it’s not the frame rails, to me the part that keeps a componby Jake Morgan - Pulling Forum

Thanks Sascha, components are only as expensive as you make them. Adam, if I had more spare time and you lived closer I probably would help. “the comp chassie should only be used in the supers and pros and not in a class like this one.” The class I’m proposing is a Light Weight Pro Stock Class. Not a hot farm, not a light super farm, but a true lightweight Pro Stock class. Re: 6000 llss and 7- 8000 limited pro class - 16 years ago
A cast rearend class limits the class to "old" tractors. I don't think there are many new rearends that are going to be compatible with pulling so the componenet option really would open the door to new technology. Honestly, I think that a logical approach would be to not worry about the rules yet, but establish the goal of the class. Are we looking of a starter 505 class?
