Dick, no sanctioning body in its right mind would combine the dss and the open ss. The reason they were split is obvious, it killed the dss class..... It's killed diesels in the light ss class. The DSS and the OSS already have uniform rules as do the light supers.
As far as the superfarm vs prostock cost to build I'd suggest you call a reputable builder of each and just find

Dick, I think you missed the op's point on rules driving up costs. I think the intention was that rules to limit a class become the new source of greatest expense. It starts the neverending quest to regain what you lost or in other words get parts to perform at a higher level than intended. It also adds to the specialization of the the part affected by the rule which in turn makes it a mor

Quotebut one group runs the A pump and the other (larger) group runs the P pump then cost goes, up not down. Uniform rules allow pullers to travel, to buy and sell one single style pump.
Please explain how the switch to P pump will make cost go down for any of the 55 pullers Curt mentioned in his post. Please do not attempt to use then some will have two setups so they can go different places

IMO lowering weights will not change any of that. Particularly the expense, R&D will be solely invested in programs to utilize horsepower potential at the lighter weights.

Maybe I'm not following correctly but it seems what you are after is an increase in wild rides? For the record and I'm sure you know this but in none of todays classes is setup of minimal importance. In fact it is the reason you see smooth passes. Horsepower is only a portion of a consistently successful team.

The easy fix to keep all brands in any of the classes would be cubic inch limits theres no reason for 600 pluss cubes in prostocks 5 hundred would have been more than enough problem solved color without the cross dressers
Please explain how the lower cubic inch limits solve any cross dressing issues. 505, 510 Europro, 540 light pro have all seen multiple catastrophic block failure

Dick, the flip side to your argument would be the example of the Minneapolis Moline as you will not see a true moline engine in any of the diesel classes. So the question is would you rather see another Deere or a Moline with a viable power plant? If it had an 8.3 Cummins in it would there be the same uproar? It's no different.

Dick if you honestly take a real hard look at why #'s are declining in certain 3classes I think you'll find that component chassis and any sheet metal any engine is not the underlying cause. It's all about the money and technology available today that wassn't available 20-30 years ago. That money and technology is what necessitated some of necessary rule changes which have h

Jake, I'm not a big fan of cross dressing either. However I'm not sure if you look at the rules without bias that you can completely point at the cubic inch limits and determine they are the problem. The cylinder pressure seems to me to be the largest problem as block failures are occurring from 680 cubes down to 505 cubes. In my simple view the root problem is the technology to buil

As a whole to try to get those kind of numbers from those classes listed I'd say PPL would be your best bet and you will need to get Champions tour level to get that many from the top 3 classes for sure. I'm not sure any one association can put 20 in each of those classes.

We have many times come down and enjoyed running the profield class in mstpa with our 466's of which they have a rule set also to allow that combination to run legally in the class. So maybe it's not quite the island you think?

If only it was that simple.... Only the engine builder will know what the best intake is for a particular setup. There is no such thing as a blanket best intake.
