Often times a puller will make, a monster pass at some point during a show occasionally it will the test hook. If I am the test hook and make a pass that I know is very strong I really hope for them to look, a one more tractor before making a change, then they will have a better idea if it was a "monster" pass or not. As a driver I can usually tell if it was a really good pass even if it's

You might look into how the three speed on the American series of White tractors was shifted. They used a three way toggle switch on the console but I've never seen how the leaver on the three speed is moved to the different positions.

Grandpa's Disaster was fourth in grand national points last summer. They announced that Warpath had an issue that was discovered to late to repair. My guess is the American Thunder got in on reputation and the fans he might draw to the event. He always has topnotch equipment, it is very unusual for him to not make a good pass.

I think what might be overlooked is that a large percentage of successful pullers have successful businesses because of years of hard work, long hours, sacrifice and struggles. Just to name a few Mike Connie, Earl Wells, Roger Simon, Billy Biers, Wayne Purser are all examples of pullers who started their businesses from the ground up and worked very hard to make, them a success.

They have likley gotten most of the RN/State tractors that they are going to get for the time being. There are two that told me they are stepping up as well as one being built that likley wont be done for the start on next season. Also picking up a couple of tractors, one new and one from another organization. A super secret tractor that I have no idea who it is should also join the class. I thin

I agree that start time is important. I also think the pullers need to be aware and ready to go. There are circumstances that cause shows to start late IE weather, I think everyone understands this and would rather start late than not at all.
I do think the show should incorporate the power classes somewhere in the middle of the event, not necessarily at the start but after a class or two. On

To touch on the original post, I've been told by an NTPA official that they really want three Mod classes because more promoters want a mod class but two mod classes won't provide enough dates.
The Lt Mod class should have better participation this next summer. If everyone that I've been talking with follows through there should be no less than 11 tractors following the class t

We asked Don Deane some of these questions in our meeting. He said that there are many versions of that engine, he wasn't sure which version they run. I think that is one reason some people don't like the Turbines, you are basically trusting the owner that they are running what the rules allow.

I'm not sure what the HP is on those two engines, if they total less than 9450 HP then yes they can run it.

Great ,
The Simon's play hard but they also work hard. Brandon has a LOT of cattle to feed and corn that need chopped doesn't wait on tractor pulls, when it's ready you to have to be in the fields. They have opted out of the Enderle in the past for this reason.

Bob,
Not to belabor the subject but I think labeling of some kinds of response to serious breakage as knee jerk is kind of insulting to the people trying to minimize our exposure.
I also think these discussions are important, so no offense to anyone involved, just another opinion.

Bob,
You can say that about most any rule we have, if they didn't do anything about the driveline issue because they found a metal treatment issue and said...OK we found the root cause so we don't need tethers. Next year another driveline comes out of a tractor for a different reason and someone is hurt or killed the lawyers would have a huge payday because it happened last year and t

OH1979er,
One thing that I would disagree on is what you call knee jerk reactions. Let's just look at the turbo explosion, was the response knee jerk, maybe but for organizations to take the time to analyze the parts involved (if they could even get access to them, not likely) they are then allowing events to take place with onlookes thinking that they aren't responding at all to a trag

I think the face shield down is a recommendation not a hard fast rule. One reason is just what the last two posters mentioned, shield fogging. If the organization makes you put the shield down then you hit something by running off of the track because you can't see who is at fault?

Kent is good at the pulling game and has spent years improving his tractor. He's a very humble quiet guy and has things going his way, it's great to see. He also has a hand in many other good running tractors.

We've talked about it some but we are a small team and it works better for us at our age to make thing simpler not more complex. It takes a lot more time and effort to keep 6 engines maintained than 4. We really like running the Lt Mod and had hope that a good showing for the class at BG would entice more promoters to try the class. While having a decent number of tractors we put on a poor s

Stormy,
The track was definitely not TOO much for us in the Lt Mod class, when you run a tractor like ours with zero weight on the nose something is amiss, dirt, sled or a combination of both it for an embarrassing moment for us.

I am understanding that loose belts were the likely culprit in Andy's case. As drivers we tend to get into a routine when getting ready to make a pass down the track. I back up to the sled, tighten my belts, put on my neck collar, flip down my visor then tighten the chain and wait for the green flag. This past weekend I forgot my visor two out of three passes. I think I was so preoccupied

Jake,
I did make a pretty drastic change, I moved every weight from the front to the back, something I never done. Still having done that the front didn't try to lift until I was way up the track then it got too high but stayed hooked. We just didn't seem to get any weight transfer to our hitches from the sled.

Fan 13,
Not to throw anyone under the bus but we (the Lt.Mod/Lt Unlimited) have never had that ugly of a showing. There may not be a lot of us but most are top notch and well accomplished tractors with many many points titles at all levels amongst the group. Not to mention very experienced drivers that ALL had trouble getting down the track, we can't all be that bad at figuring out a track

When I was first contemplating getting into the mod class I looked at one for sale and asked the owner how much it wouud cost per pass. He said he had figured $400 per pass with a three engine mod. That was 20 plus years ago, I've never figured those numbers out but I can tell that every year when we do our taxes I'm shocked at the numbers and they aren't going down any time soon.

I just heard part of an interview with John Kerry where he said that in order to meet a carbon neutral situation by 2030 that the farming industry would have to come under control of the government because they produce about 30% of carbon emissions. WOW that is a scary thought...the government running agriculture!!! How could the government possibly do a better job of running agriculture when ev

Yes that was an awesome way to finish a show, lots of power, lots of speed and straight down the track. There is nothing better than winning on the last pass of the class.

I haven't been able to figure out how to do the pre-entry let alone look at the list of entry's.
