It sounds like you may have a pump with lightened governor weights to allow for higher rpm's. The problem is they're not responsive in the 3k range. I had the same issue with a Simms pump. When set at 3k and you hit 3k and when the governor pulled the rack back, it then didn't go full fuel until it dropped several hundred rpm. It would only run about 2500 under load. So ensure that

I can't vouch for these engines, but years ago when they started using the oil leaking, vibrating C Cummins in trucks we had to constantly pull front covers to repair or replace for oil leaks. We used wood dowels from the hardware store. Taper 1 end on a bench grinder, then cut a small slot in that end to let it collapse a bit. Gently tap into lifter, raise up, and wire tie the pairs togethe

I'm not an expert with them but fyi, haven't found any upgraded parts available. I was told when you need to go from a 2 disc to a 3 disc to remove it. My HP is estimated lower than your number but I was running road gear @10k lb. and downshifting no issues. As they said, use your clutch and come out on high side. I do run a liquid filled psi gauge, I believe that ensuring your psi is a

Thanks much for the input! I doubt this would even hit 200 hp. Does the 4000 rear bolt directly to a 5000 trans?

Just toying with an idea, will a 4000 chassis hold up to a farm stock 7000lb?? Power will be a 268 (from 7710) w/9.5 simms & turbo. Thanks!

Thanks for the replies. I thought System Accessories was changing the seals to be compatible with Diesel. I'll try one with Viton. Did try a FASS years ago on a model 100. It promptly seized and so did the warranty replacement. Ended up with a shurflo on that too. I don't need high pressure here, just a little Simms set at 600cc so a shurflo is good.

Does anyone have a source for a shurflo or equivalent fuel supply pump? System Accessories must be out of business, number no good.
Looking for constant run at about 40 psi.
Thanks!

Working on a stock 1984 9L in a truck, A pump. It's rated at 165hp, and I see in one of my old manuals in 1969 that engine was rated at 210. Assuming that it's downrated in 84 due to emissions. Obviously it's pathetically lazy, and would like to give it a small bump just to make it more drivable. Anyone have experience with them, would 1 turn be too much to try? Thanks

My understanding is that pressure is critical on the 100. Correct me if I'm wrong but don't you only have 1 plunger feeding 6 hungry mouths, so that plunger has 1/6 of the fill time of an inline pump.

Great thread!. I was always leery of an el cheapo thermocouple failing and ending up in the turbine wheel. Do you happen to have the brand or link to the ebay thermocouples that have worked well for you? Thanks!

Above is correct, and are you absolutely certain that your timing marks are true? That sounds like incorrect timing. Assuming you don't have the pump output maxed out?

I ran a stock 456, EXACT same fuel, 35 degrees, S300, and it turned road gear easily @11,000 lbs, did have to downshift DP at end of run. Had pump plunger issues with the .093 lines, all better when we went to .120's. I'd caution you against .093 lines unless you have Jim's blessing, am positive that's not your issue. Engine had stock cam, everything, just balanced. Welcome to

If you happen to be a member of Amazon Prime, go to video section and search "tractor pull". The first one that comes up, The Super Chargers, is just so cool! Would like to know the exact year, I'm sure Mike Hoff or Milt Bergman could answer that. I'm not sure if Bergman out front there going side to side is hilarious or awesome, maybe both. Love the old drag sleds.
