The original M has a shorter center section which means that the engine (and weight) would be further backward. It will not bolt up to the TA center section.

Ed, I would like to echo Kent's comments and appreciation for all of your hard work co-ordinating the LLSS schedule. I for one enjoy the travel and the opportunity to hook with groups of pullers from different areas. I know that your original intent was to give LLSS pullers from all over the country a chance to drive to another state and make consecutive hooks (within a reasonable distance)

Very good analysis Bryan and I appreciate the work, but what I think that you are saying is if there were 8 diesels running at the same level as Alan's tractor then we would likely see them finishing in the top ten nearly every time. Your comparison was not 10 diesels vs 10 alky's, it was one diesel vs 10 + alky's and therefore Alan's 6 wins and average 3rd/4th finishes in the

Dave, I think that you hit the nail on the head with your summarization of Warren Powers answer. The sport of tractor pulling that means so much to me is completely lost to my son (since he is yet another generation removed from the farm). And the cost to build and campaign a tractor is more than I could ever expect for him to bear on his own. I agree whole heartedly that there is much greater "y

Really fun to look at your old photos of my dad from Windsor Ontario in 1980. It was a shoot out nearly every weekend in that 55 super class between Farmalls and the Cockshutts. And the Williams Brothers and their Farmall M's were always a hoot to watch. You never knew if they were gone to blow up or blow it out the gate.
Thanks for the memories Dave!

Sorry Bama, I was just trying to be funny because of the way that it was written.
But to answer your question:
If you are talking about stock parts, there are a bunch of pieces that would get torn up pretty quick in the drive train starting with the transmission, and the differential and the clutch. Actually you would never be able to compete with out first spending about $6k in those areas.

A big THANK YOU to the both the Shedden and the Dungannon promoter groups. These are two first class pulling events that run well and deliver a great show for the pullers and the spectators. We really appreciate all of your hard work and the great hospitality again this year. Also thanks to Ed Shoobridge for all of your leg work to get this travel calendar in place. Any LLSS teams that couldn

Real sad to hear about #7511. I knew about this tractor for many years and was finally able to buy it at an auction sale after the original owner passed away in Michigan. It was a great original tractor when we restored it and then sold to it the owner of Bancroft Equipment back in 2010. Good luck to the guy who stole it. I can't see him being able to take it to a show anywhere and not be no

I think that your final ratio is really going to depend on how many RPMS you are planning to turn your engine. It will make a big difference to your tire speed if you are turning 4000 rpms compared to 6000.

To start with, anybody that says that a 560 won't hold up to some horse power better take a look at Jerry Sipes tractor. That rear end with a DT-360 or DT-466 would be a very good start. Granted $10K is not a very big number to build anything more than an "also ran" tractor these days. Seriously, I'm not trying to be a smart a$$, but you would be better off to find a pulling partner wit

No. He was pinned under the steering wheel but he had slid off the side of the seat far enough that it was not a direct crush on his chest. The next night, the announcer said that he was in serious condition in the Louisville hospital. We never did see him pull after that though.

The "U" drawbars were built for 50 hp tractors. Also, I don't believe that he was using the straight drawbar as a support. That's what alowed the two braces to fold up if I recall correctly.

I was in Louisville with my dad that night. The front of the "Sesame Street Special" just kept getting higher and higher. I believe that it turned out that he was using the old "U style" drawbar from a farmall M and the supports just folded up. It was pretty shocking to see him laying under the tractor like that. We really have come a long way as far as safety goes.
