With the better and more consistent quality of fuel today compared to the 1950’s is it possible to use the lp pistons with gasoline?
The gas has a compression ratio of 6.15/1. The lp is 7.3/1.

I presently have a supply of hydraulic oil without any wet brakes or wet clutch additive. But need oil with it. Is there a product that can be purchased in bulk to add to hydraulic oil to make it wet brake/clutch friendly? Talking about 100 gallons of oil.

Can any one tell me the center to center offset on that tool? It’s the one used to retorque head bolts on a sbjd so you don’t have to take a bunch of stuff off. From center of bolt to center of the 1/2” square drive hole.
Thanks

Have an extra one on hand. New. Machined straight flanges to keep the hoses on and around the slide for a tighter fit for less air leak than the gate comes as manufactured. Do you want to mount directly to the turbo or a different size pipe? About $350 give or take depending on what you need.
Also replace hardware with longer fastners for self locking nuts everywhere.

Emery cloth is intended to remove metal. Not wanting to do that. And it’s an in frame repair. Can’t be getting that contamination (grit) into tha engine. Was hoping to find a chemical type solution.

Have a head removed and it appears the previous installation used what appears to be aluminum paint on the head gasket. An old timers thing that was common in this area. But so far I can’t find anything that will remove it fom the block. Tried scraping, brushing, paint remover. Any suggestions? Thanks

Some where I’v read or heard of light and heavy blocks. Referring to the 466, 7.6 and 8.1. Can’t find that information now. Interested if there’s actually a light and heavy block? If so in which displacement? What those differences are? Advantages of either? How to tell from the outside especially if they aren’t side by side? Etc.
Thanks

Willwood doesn’t offer a master cylinder compatible with oil. Or a conversion kit to do it. They told me that last winter.
Mico builds master cylinders of many styles that are available with seals for oil.

If you’re asking where did all the people go, I’ll give you an example. Where I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s there were close to 30 farms within a 2 mile radius of our farm. With approximately 125 people living on them. Today at least 10 of those farms are gone completely. And the remaining ones only have about 30 people.

Look at the water pump pulley diameters also. If I recall correctly the gas used a faster spinning size (smaller) to move more coolant.

I need to rework a JD 70 gas engine. The stock compression ratio is 6.15 to 1. The 2 bangers were low compression due to inconsistent and low octanes of fuels in their day. But that’s not the case now. Can I go to lp pistons with a compression ratio of 7.3 without needing premium gas?
Thanks in advance.

Sporting goods type places sell products used on rifle scopes to help prevent fogging on the outside of the lenses. Usually comes in small spray bottles. Don’t know how good it would work. Might still have some. Have to give it a try if I find it.
