Haha.. That figures.. I didn't even look at the specs.. I just cut and pasted it out of the TM.. They just rounded the values..
Thanks for the correction..

From Deere.com (still not as accurate as above.)

They will drop in.. You won't get much more by going to the 4.75 sleeves.. I guess you could offset grind the crank and use 8.1L/466 rods, and custom pistons... The 9.0L pistons are one piece steel pistons..
tPuller, send me an email or PM,
Thanks,

Its do-able.. shouldn't be much different than putting a 8.1L crank in a 466 block.. The mains is the big issue.. You'll either have to turn down the crank to match the 466 mains.. (or you could try line boring the block?? ) You'll have to clearance the cam for the rods.. (9.0 has larger rods + the added stroke.) The 9.0L cam is clearanced, but you can not use the 9.0L cam. Deleon is a good pull.. Two sleds, the TTTPA guys and the Outlaws.. It is usually a 3 day pull.. (Thurs-Sat) Outlaw have only had one diesel class at most of the TX events.. It has been the ProStock class.. I have not seen the schedule for the Outlaws to see what classes will be at the TX events this year.

There's not much beyond that.. Outlaw's usually have 3 events in TX each yr.. (DeLeon, Wightright and Taylor) The TTTPA have 8-9 events each yr, but their tractor class is a 466 class.. ( 466, 4K RPM's, 24.5, GT42.. (They have a web site with the rules tttpa.com) This is the first real come back for pulling in TX since it died 20+ yrs ago.. the only other pulling has been Antique

Do you have pic of the tractor when you got it?? or was is pretty stripped down from way back when.. Just interested to see what it looked like 20yrs ago...
I saw you had some parts for sale.. I hope it stays local, and someone builds another tractor out of it.. Looks like there might be a good class this year, if some tractors get finished.. the more the merrier...

The only problem I have had with the Hot Programmers.. (Hot PPE's, Quads, and others.) is throwing the trans in to limp mode, when they will not spend the money to do some minor upgrades to the trans.. Most of the trucks have been 04.5 and earlier..
But have really like the PPE stuff.. Edge is always a popular seller.. Haven't had a chance to play with the newer BullyDog stuff yet f

Mod Diesel is 2 Stages, 3 chargers... Remember this is 2wd Mod... The other classes do not have to go to this level.. Work stock, 2.6, 2.8 charger classes must have OEM drive train.. or at least the housings.. for a 1ton or smaller.. 3.0 or Super Street classes, still have to use a frame, but have open driveline rules.. You will just be pulling against the 4x4 trucks, but with a 30 in hitch. T

At the NADM events they allow 2wds to pull with the 4x4, same rules, just run a 30in Hitch heigth.. 2.6, 2.8, 3.0 (or some are twins to 3.2, and unlimited singles..) but this is a mod truck, they would be pulling against the 4x4 Mod Diesel trucks.
I think the cube limit for them is mid 400's.. either 450 or 470 cid..

The 6.8L has a taller deck height, and larger rod journals.. but I guess if you are destroking it.. those things might not be something to look at...
The 359 was also in some of the utility tractors.. 2950, 55 and 31's.. a few other that size.. also in some smaller combines, and cotton stripers.. later one's used the 6.8L engine.. early 7000's used both the 5.9L (359) and the 6.8

I've been discussing a few questions with a hand full of people, but no real final discision..
When changing to an SFI Damper, what are the opinions on the size of the Damper? The stock Damper on a 8.1L JD is about 11 in.. but can be different based on application.. I know that ATI's damper is about 7in.. And I've seen as big as 13in (not sure that will fit with a stock 8.1L
