A different relief valve still will not help much.. the pump needs to cut off.. (I never thought of using the priority valve as a relief valve.. ) I don't think you'll need that much pressure, you could back the pressure down a little, but you need a pressure switch. And as someone said above the accumulator would really help too..

I would think that the snow plow pump would have had a built in pressure switch.. but it might not.. Depending on the relief setting in the pump, you can try something like this..
but I want to find one that's adjustable.. (maybe that one is.. it was just the first one I found.)
If you go to a gear pump you are changing to an open center hydraulic system.. and you will need to change

Jim... after you and Sascha posted about having this camera was the reason I bought this camera.. (and I found it on sale, and I could get it with the new style battery.)
Yes, it still comes with the water proof case.. I think the design is still about the same.. but you can take the door off, and there is one that holes cut in it for better sound..
I'll agree with the comment about the

I just purchased a New GoPro Hero camera, with a few additional mounts. (after reading some others posts, I like not having AA or AAA batteries.. on the new Hero.. I try to avoid regular batteries.)
My questions is about the Audio, and which rear cover everyone is using. It has the waterproof rear cover, and an open rear cover. What are is everyone using when mounting them on the tractor/c

Does the pump run all the time? or do you have it setup with a pressure switch so it will cut off once it reaches a set pressure? If you just have steering and brakes in the circuit it should build up pressure and shut off. (I cann't remember if there is a warm up circuit on the old style steering valves.)
If there is not a pressure switch it will cause it to go over on relief all the tim

Yea.. sorry.. I missed a digit on the calculator..
the sleeves I've seen to do that with the 8.1L crank and 8.1L head were notched.. maybe they didn't have to be.. but might have been done to help unshoud the valves... Like I said.. RIE has the parts to bring it from 496 to 466... and use the 8.1L parts..

Hotfarm.. I agree.. it depends on your rules.. if he has a 466 limit.. he'll have to decube..

Use the 55 or 8.1L head.. use the longer stroke, and smaller bore.. they will have to notch the sleeves for the valves.. REI has the parts..

I would leave the upper PTO shaft.. (the larger shaft that the PTO hub rides on.) this will just help support the hub a little.. Cant think of anything else that would need to stay..
Did you just remove the bottom part of the lube reduction valve piston to supply the oil to the PTO clutch piston?? (This is the easiest way to get oil to both pistons.this would be the only reason I can think of

Is anyone using the fractured style rods in a puller? I'm familiar with the rods, but just haven't hear of many people using them.. Why to or not to use them..

What issues have you had with that camera?? And what else have you tried? Interested in getting something like this.. The price of those looked pretty cheap... (what I was looking for)
Thanks,

Dan.
I know you have put a lot of work in the site.. but I've gotten lost in the advertisements, and have quit going to the site.. (it was always my second stop online.) Its hard to tell the advertisements from the Pulling information..
Would there be a way to seperate it.. maybe put all the advertising, ebay stuff on a side bar on the right, and keep the pulling info front and center??

Guys, thanks for the responses... In the entire state of TX there really is only one diesel tractor class.. (except the 3 times a year the outlaws come to town.) the current class is called Hot Farm... 466 cid, 4000 rpms, GT42, 20.8's or 24.5's at 9000lbs. This class has really started to come around this last year with some nice tractors out there..
There is another organization th

Thanks guys..
Looking at a few other organizations.. and from the few that posted.. most are 310 and 410...
Kind of why I was wondering how would 360 fit.. this would give the 5.9L cummins and smaller with twins.. (not sure how big) vs a 510 with a 3x4.. There are some tractors being built with the 5.9L already.. Allowing to cross manufactures lines..
We're just thinking out loud h

Guys I know there are a few organizations/events doing this.. If you tried to keep the weight the same.. say 6000 or 6500lbs.. Diesel only.. no rpm limit.. If the limit were 510cid for a 3 inlet or 3x4.. what would be a comparable limit for twins.. would 310 cid, 3in atmospheric turbo be able to compete.. is that even close?? I don't know what kind of HP those small cube tractors are making

On the Deere S300's.. they used a hand full of different size wheels... (and exhaust housings) I have had 12-15 of them, and the largest is about a 64mm... (I pretty sure there is a 2.6 one out there.. I just have not seen it.) You should be able to pick up a used one/a take off/ rebuilt one for a fair price.

Sorry FF.. I missed your post with the size you listed... (I like the slugged hx50..) Diesel truck guys were breaking the 40 shaft.. back when lots of people were trying them.. (a fair towing turbo in a cummins.) Most have gone to some S300 base turbo..

I know its not a good design for tractor pulling with the top ring close to the top.. but on a stock piston (JD) how long would the pistons last?
Rough numbers.. 450-500cc of fuel, 2.6-2.8 turbo, water, 3000rpms.. 466-500cid.. (I know there are a lot of other vairables out there.. but just trying to get some opinions.. )
Thanks..
