Re: Is Hurricane Allis still around? - 6 months ago

Todd, you have any variation of shirts for the Hurricane Allis you would sell, size XL? I absolutely love the look of that tractor. If you guys are selling it, I would love to get a shirt or a couple.

Re: John Link part 2 - 6 months ago

Okay, so serious question then. So far, this post has just been about water. What about the guys that make a great pass and the motor lets go at the very end putting oil all over the track. Should that be a DQ? Yes, I understand that is just adding "insult to injury", but they are still putting a pile of fluid on the track. Years ago in Freeport, IL, Witworths LSS burst the oil pan and they put o

Re: John Link part 2 - 6 months ago

To The Original Michael, thanks for letting me know about it. I don't get time to listen to every podcast. I went and watched it. When they showed the video of the green tractor that didn't get DQed versus Link's pass that did. I think Jon got even more mad.

Re: Has your favorite class changed over the years? - 6 months ago

My favorite class has changed over the years. However, I have always enjoyed the lighter classes. I enjoy almost every class, but I do get bothered when a show has a lot of similar classes. I don't need to watch, ProStock, LightPros, LimitedPros, and SuperFarms at the same event. I like them all, but show me something different. Put in some Mods, trucks, Open or Light Supers or anything tha

Re: Iowa state fair AgLSS - 6 months ago

Bandit496, I do not know how the NTPA rule book has it. Does it list the class that you can jump into? Otherwise, my extreme example still works. A HotFarm would fit in the rules of a Pro. Please understand, I do not ever see something like a HotFarm jumping into the Pro class. All I am saying is that I can understand why someone wouldn't be allowed to run in a class that their tractor was n

Re: Iowa state fair AgLSS - 6 months ago

pullinfan, I did not say that you should never be allowed to jump up and run. I am just saying I understand if someone is not allowed to run. As for 3 LLSS being in the top 10 for Outlaw points. I had to look at the current points. There is really only 6 tractors in the points race. If you made every event and bumped the sled, you would currently sit 7th in points. All of this is according to wha

Re: Iowa state fair AgLSS - 6 months ago

Dick, there isn't a perfect answer. And yes, we will always have some classes where there is a big difference between 1st and last. How about this for an example? RJ Simons had his big pull this summer. 50 ProStocks there. If you were doing the same thing. Someone with a 4.1 says Ithey're going to throw on a bigger charger and come play, They'll pay the money. Do you let them run k

Re: Iowa state fair AgLSS - 6 months ago

To Original Michael, I don't disagree with what you are saying. I would rather have a combined class of 8-9, 4.1's and 5.0's run together, than 2 separate classes with 4 or 5 in the class. But the idea of a puller thinking they can always jump up a class, I disagree. When it works out, it is fine. But for a puller to assume that they should be allowed in a class that is not what yo

Re: Iowa state fair AgLSS - 6 months ago

Dick, again, I am not saying anytime someone jumps up a class that is a bad thing, but is it a positive thing and should it always be allowed? If a tractor jumps up to a class and is 100' back, does that put on a good show for the crowd? And then go the flip side of this using your example of a 4.1 jumping up with the 5.0 Pros. If a tractor jumps up a class and is competitive, why are there

Re: Iowa state fair AgLSS - 6 months ago

Jake, I am going to have to disagree a bit with you on this. I do not feel it should always be that you can jump up into another class. Your example a LLSS jumping up into the LSS class. I was told one time, "You build for the class you want to run". So you don't expect a different class to change their rules to accommodate you. Yes, I will say there are some exceptions to this. But at the e

Re: Great Showing! - 6 months ago

Charles, that's crazy that they had those numbers back then. And I am definitely not against Pull Offs. Frankly, I miss the 320 full pull days. I do love watching someone make that huge run, but I think some events get carried away. I also think it should never be intentional to try to have a pull off. They should plan on a sled setting to try to get them stopped well before 350', not c

Re: Great Showing! - 6 months ago

Charles, I completely understand what you are saying. My question is, back in the 80's and 90's, did we have classes that were 50 deep? I honestly do not know. Say there are 40 in a class and vehicle #3 and vehicle #38 make it into the finals, is it fare to have them both come back right away since one has had soo much more time to cool down? I can understand it form both sides. Persona

Re: What needs to change in pulling. - 7 months ago

If you don't mind, I will weigh in my 2 cents. Someone as a fan and small time puller. I truly don't think there is a simply answer to what needs to change. An organization like the NTPA has to make decisions on rules and business strategy that is always going to upset people. They are not going to get it correct 100% of the time. They are going to make mistakes. Could they be doing a b

Re: The 5.0 PS class - 7 months ago

A puller once told me, "3 classes of 10 tractors will always put on a better show than 10 classes of 3 tractors." We keep adding new classes. Are we sabotaging ourselves? I was on board with turbo limits in the ProStock class. But another ProStock class? And then the promotional side of it. How do you sell this to a promoter? If they look and run like a ProStock, why have them? I understand the

Re: Thankful - 7 months ago

I am not saying there isn't a place for MPH classes. But guys keep asking to remove the speed limit. Or raise the speed limit. That isn't what it is meant for. You really want to see it be an "Entry" level class, keep them under 10 mph, and have a strict RPM limit and tire rule. Everyone keeps talking about entry level class. How much should an entry level class cost? What's the do

Speed limit class complainers - 8 months ago

A while back, there was a Facebook post that asked, "If you could change one rule, what would it be?" And the most common answer was, "Get rid of the speed limit." I felt I had a good response to all of them and said something like, "We already have classes with open speed limits. Take off your skirt, and go run with the big boys." This comment may have gotten a couple people upset. And let'

Re: Observation about motorsports trend - 8 months ago

I agree, class numbers are down overall. But low puller turnout doesn't mean a bad show. I have to an event that was done in just over 2.5 hours an it was a great show. You do the best show with what you have.

Complaining about pulls - 8 months ago

We all like truck and tractor pulling. But everyone of us has our complaints about things that we think need to change. The latest topic about Tomah is a great example. I don't want to get into debating classes or organizations, but a positive talk about improving the shows and venues. And there is 1 event, in my mind, that seams to stand above and beyond the rest. And that is Made's P

Re: Congratulations to Simon's on a great event. - 8 months ago

To Oly, yes the pits are open. But if average person went 60 minutes before the show to look at everything, a lot of vehicles would have already been in the infield. Also, you have to let people know that they can go look. You also have to understand that if you parked in the parking area, you had to walk around the whole track to get to the end of the pits. That's a heck of a walk. I did it

Let''s do this as the Good, Bad, and What If. The Good: I was there Thursday and Saturday nights. The on-track performance was great. Great competition. Fun to watch. Fast paced. An absolute blast to watch. I felt the food was decent and reasonably priced. One of the best shows I have ever seen. I really like the class sizes. And the idea of qualifying Thursday and Friday, and then f

Re: NTPA LSS goes to 6300 lbs????? - 2 years ago

I would love to see the class be 6000pds. However, It's not going to happen. I do always think the weight debate is funny. When someone wants to add say 100pds, they will tell you "it's only 100pds". If you ask them to drop 100pds, then it turns into, "we can't give up that much weight". I have heard guys make the argument that the hook up better with more weight. Of coarse they ho

Re: 70 hot farms under one roof - 2 years ago

To Hot Farmer, I disagree with you. I do not feel they are underrated at all. I think the Hot Farm class is great. You are going to get good close competition every time. They do put on a good show. But they very seldom give you the "WOW" moment. I think the rules are great for the class. They need to leave them alone. Hot Farms work and are a great addition to most shows. But I don't feel t

Re: 4.1 9500 - 2 years ago

Okay Collin, I have a serious question for you. On average, what percentage of rules that get passed hurt the class instead of benefitting the class? How many pullers that are pushing for rules changes are still running that class 5 years later? How are some of these rules that getting passed? Back to the 5.0 component class that isn'e the same as the 5.0 component class. Someone told me

Re: What’s the best class to start in? - 2 years ago

Sooo, there's a loaded question. My best recommendation is to start attending events and asking questions. There are so many things to think about. Are you planning on running for points with a club, what's your purchase budget, what's you maintenance budget, what's you travel budget, how much time do you have to work on it, amongst other things. Are you looking for something

1320 Video Goes to Winser - 2 years ago

If you haven't seen it on Facebook yet, 1320 Video went to the pull in Wisner. And they say there is video coming. Why do I think this is a big posative for the sport? Because you just had a huge Youtube channel that focuses on drag racing, go to a tractor pull. These guys have some great photos and videos. The photos they have on Facebook of Wsiner are great! What justifies a sled reset - 2 years ago

What is a good reason for a sled reset? At an event this past week, there was a class of tractors where the test puller went 320'. They reset the sled because "they had the room to run". Then instead of loosening up the sled, it accidently got tightened up and the distances got shorter. The test puller is a good running tractor and made a good pass. So the sled at 320" should have been good,

Re: Does "cross dressing" matter - 2 years ago

To OH1979er, I believe your message was a reply in the topic I started called "Pros and cons of crossdressing". I agree with a lot of what you are saying. There are some things that I feel change how people view this. First, pulling has "clicks" of fan. Some guys like spark plugs. They are there to watch 2wd and pro mod trucks. Some guys want to see tractors blow smoke, they want the ProStocks, e
