Re: Clean look or nah? - 4 days ago

Honestly, I can appreciate them all. For me, it's the attention to detail. I own a collision shop and have been doing collision work for almost 30 years now. So the detail and quality is what I see. I like when they look clean, and when they look wild. I like the look of Simon's new pro. I love the look of Shelton's 1206 Pro. I also love the look of Demer's Smokin Hot Deer and

Class experiment. - 8 days ago

Let's try a little experiment. You are putting on an event. Any venue you want. Any class you pick, you are going to get the top 12 truck/tractor in the country. You are going to get the best of the best. You can use classes from any organization. You have to pick 5 classes to be at your event. What 5 classes are you picking?

Re: The 5.0 PS class growth. - 13 days ago

Well, I don't have any dog in the fight, but as a fan, this is my opinion on what should happen. Keep 4.1 rules the same as current(if they want to go component, what ever). Keep Light Pro rules the same and have every organization agree on a Max turbo size. Then tell all the Pro Stock and 5.0 Pros that by a specific year, that there will be a maximum turbo size and the two classes will be o

Re: NTPA official BG announcement 4.1 added. SF axed. LIMITED ENTRY!! - 25 days ago

I don't have a problem with 50 in a class, I just don't want to watch 50 in a row. I love the idea of two sessions of 25 with the top 5-8 going into a final. As for limiting just one class, I feel that's a bit of a miss. You run it like every other class, or not at all.

Re: NFMS List Released - 2 months ago

BrandonA,I will say I agree that I would rather watch 50 Pros than 25 pros and 25 4.1s. But I am also the same guy who doesn't like to see Pros, 5.0 Pros, and Limited Pros at the same event. Even Light Pros can be to much for me with other Pro class. I like all of them. But at some tracks, you just don't see the difference going down the track(To the average fan).

Re: NFMS List Released - 2 months ago

BrandonA, to your point, there are a lot of people who would rather watch a college or high school game than the NFL.

Re: What rule(s) would you eliminate? - 2 months ago

ALL speed limit classes would have a max speed of 10mph. Any puller that breaks the speed limit and "Sends it" is not allowed at that event again.

Re: 470s in LLSS - 2 months ago

To Stomper, there is 100% an advantage to the 470 guys over the 410. If they are all close now, that won't be in a couple of years. And as for saying that cat's already out of the bag, no it's not. This could be stopped and the class could stay at 410. And you could do it without making a bunch of guys leave or jump class.

Re: 470s in LLSS - 2 months ago

I guess someone needs to explain all of this to me. The LLSS class is my favorite state level class. I see multiple Badger State and ECI pulls every year. I have friends who run that class. The class has all kinds of color in it. And they stay pretty competitive. Why up the cubic limit? We have a bunch of classes that can run the 466 engines in? To me, one of the draws to the LLSS class is the sm

Re: New Alliance: IHRA Joins Outlaw and Pro Pulling Leagues - 2 months ago

I personally like to see some of these alliances. And I like seeing pullers/promoters try new ideas for pulls. I don't have to agree with any of them, but I will give them credit, they are trying something. But I think we need to continue with that trend. We need to keep trying different things. And we can't rely on one idea, format, or series and think we have a good thing going. There

Re: RIP Steve Boyd - 2 months ago

My story about Steve, and I tell this to a lot of guys. My dad and I will never pull on a big stage. At the time we were running a couple little super mod tractors. Mine with a snowmobile engine, my dads with a motorcycle engine. We were in Freeport, IL for the PPL pull walking around the pits. We were looking at Boyds 2 mods. We were standing in between both of the when Steve come by us. Dad did

Re: EFI improves pulling - 2 months ago

To "Efi", Half of the parts on the tractors going down the track now, you couldn't buy in 1973. They may be a version of what was ran back then, but they are not the same. Fuel injection was around in 1973, just not on everything. About the idea that there is no benefit of it. Define benefit. Is it drivability, is it power, is it longevity, why? Guys want it for a reason.

Component chassis ruining pulling - 3 months ago

The last thread about Lt Pros and 4.1 Limited Pros and having component chassis brought up a point. Once you go component, what is left of an actual tractor? Maybe the hood and fenders? A component tractor is custom built front to back. You don't even have to start with a tactual tractor. You can build it from scratch. Currently the 4.1's are a non-component tractor. So how much more of

Re: Single charger tractor cost - 4 months ago

This is a loaded question. There is no set amount of money to build any class. Take the new bootlegger tractor. It is beautiful and has so many custom billet parts to it. How much money was spent on that tractor that is never going to help it's performance. How many tractors are out there competing that aren't the latest an greatest technology, but are being competitive because the chas

Re: NTPA rules, 2026 - 4 months ago

Alright, here goes: -Replace Super Farm with Light Pro -NO screw chargers in any class besides Unlimited, and actually take away some boost for the mod tractor classes(except unlimited). Keep the weight the same for mod classes. Along with this, we need to figure out a weigh to get other engine combos back in the mod classes. Adjust weight or hitch height to get these tractors competitive.

Re: SF national class 2027? - 4 months ago

Dick, I agree that I think before 2030 that Super Farms will be replaced. I personally think it's going to be Lt Pro that replaces them. I have nothing against Limited Pro, I just think the future of Light Pro is better than Limited Pro. Just my opinion.

Re: What makes a great pull? - 4 months ago

For me there are a lot of factors that make a good pull. For me it's: -Good announcer. I don't care if there aren't the best. But they can't be annoying or no nothing about the event. And DO NOT talk politics. -Music. I am good with music to fill down time. But it doesn't need to be loud. Just some back ground noise. -A good track with good lighting. -Good food. I

John, I am 100% with you on not getting political. I don't care what side you are on, at a pull, I don't want to hear it. Being patriotic, that I am good with. We actually did something Don Slama and and an American flag last year. That story is actually on my Facebook page,

What makes a great announcer? - 5 months ago

I announce very, very, very little. And when people criticize or praise an event, often times they talk about the announcers. And everyone has their opinions on what a good announcers is. Me personally, I do not feel I am a good announcer. I get it done. And I usually have some decent knowledge of the classes going down the track. I also will try to talk with some drivers before the event to get

Re: John Link part 2 - 5 months ago

Okay, so serious question then. So far, this post has just been about water. What about the guys that make a great pass and the motor lets go at the very end putting oil all over the track. Should that be a DQ? Yes, I understand that is just adding "insult to injury", but they are still putting a pile of fluid on the track. Years ago in Freeport, IL, Witworths LSS burst the oil pan and they put o

To The Original Michael, thanks for letting me know about it. I don't get time to listen to every podcast. I went and watched it. When they showed the video of the green tractor that didn't get DQed versus Link's pass that did. I think Jon got even more mad.

Re: Has your favorite class changed over the years? - 5 months ago

My favorite class has changed over the years. However, I have always enjoyed the lighter classes. I enjoy almost every class, but I do get bothered when a show has a lot of similar classes. I don't need to watch, ProStock, LightPros, LimitedPros, and SuperFarms at the same event. I like them all, but show me something different. Put in some Mods, trucks, Open or Light Supers or anything tha

Re: Iowa state fair AgLSS - 5 months ago

Bandit496, I do not know how the NTPA rule book has it. Does it list the class that you can jump into? Otherwise, my extreme example still works. A HotFarm would fit in the rules of a Pro. Please understand, I do not ever see something like a HotFarm jumping into the Pro class. All I am saying is that I can understand why someone wouldn't be allowed to run in a class that their tractor was n

Re: Iowa state fair AgLSS - 5 months ago

pullinfan, I did not say that you should never be allowed to jump up and run. I am just saying I understand if someone is not allowed to run. As for 3 LLSS being in the top 10 for Outlaw points. I had to look at the current points. There is really only 6 tractors in the points race. If you made every event and bumped the sled, you would currently sit 7th in points. All of this is according to wha

Re: Iowa state fair AgLSS - 5 months ago

Dick, there isn't a perfect answer. And yes, we will always have some classes where there is a big difference between 1st and last. How about this for an example? RJ Simons had his big pull this summer. 50 ProStocks there. If you were doing the same thing. Someone with a 4.1 says Ithey're going to throw on a bigger charger and come play, They'll pay the money. Do you let them run k

Re: Iowa state fair AgLSS - 5 months ago

To Original Michael, I don't disagree with what you are saying. I would rather have a combined class of 8-9, 4.1's and 5.0's run together, than 2 separate classes with 4 or 5 in the class. But the idea of a puller thinking they can always jump up a class, I disagree. When it works out, it is fine. But for a puller to assume that they should be allowed in a class that is not what yo

Re: Iowa state fair AgLSS - 5 months ago

Dick, again, I am not saying anytime someone jumps up a class that is a bad thing, but is it a positive thing and should it always be allowed? If a tractor jumps up to a class and is 100' back, does that put on a good show for the crowd? And then go the flip side of this using your example of a 4.1 jumping up with the 5.0 Pros. If a tractor jumps up a class and is competitive, why are there

Re: Iowa state fair AgLSS - 5 months ago

Jake, I am going to have to disagree a bit with you on this. I do not feel it should always be that you can jump up into another class. Your example a LLSS jumping up into the LSS class. I was told one time, "You build for the class you want to run". So you don't expect a different class to change their rules to accommodate you. Yes, I will say there are some exceptions to this. But at the e

Re: Great Showing! - 6 months ago

Charles, that's crazy that they had those numbers back then. And I am definitely not against Pull Offs. Frankly, I miss the 320 full pull days. I do love watching someone make that huge run, but I think some events get carried away. I also think it should never be intentional to try to have a pull off. They should plan on a sled setting to try to get them stopped well before 350', not c
