1566/1586 tractors can easily be lightened up. I had one that ran 8200# supersock with two turbos under the hood and a cast nose. When I bought it, I easily peeled off another 500# by building a full length frame with rack and pinion steering, and ditched the aborted wd Allis wide front the previous hack artist installed. The next move was to remove the 300# worth of factory brakes. A pair of top

All the sets that I have seen always ran the deere rod bearing in the deere rod. Are the deere rods better? A matter of opinion I guess. Deere rods seem to be of two common types. Solid and hollowed center main beams. I'm not afraid of either design. Both work just fine. Once you go above the limits of a forged rod, all bets are off.

Rick at performance machine is reasonable. He has great capabilities in his shop as well as an in house dyno. I have had him do some things here and there over the years. Always honest and straight forward with me. If he cant get something done for me in the timeframe I allow, he tells me. I have also caught him on saturdays and sundays before.

Hx-82 base with an ht 100 is the way to go as far as a twin setup is concerned. 82s are readily available, and the ht100 is a slow turning charger that is quite dependable and moves a ton of air.

If you are close to the motor, take two minutes and pull out the three bolt cover off of the side of the motor that is centered on the block and just below the exhaust manifold. Look inside at the top of the lifters. Takes no time at all, and is the only way to know for sure.

Is there a quick way to install 6x5.5 automotive rims on a factory IH front axle? Is there a hub that allows this to be done without much trouble? A dexter trailer hub perhaps with different bearings?

You wont be sorry. Jason, aka firefarm, is excellent at what he does. Prices have always been more than reasonable and the work is exceptional. He will continue to get my ag- chassid buisness. Hopefully he signs on to help me with the componant super chassis as well. Looking forward to it.

Who posted the add on January 7th for all of those hx82's? I have searched and searched for the context of that add with no success. Please contact me. As I recall, you had a 419 number. Contact me at 608-317-7321 via call or text. I am looking for a pair of 3.9 or 4.1's for my super.

Can you run a slotted cover? I have a Columbus 3x3 with the right exhaust housing for your 540 that I would sell you for $1000.It is a Holset charger. Hx-60 wheels. Just back from Fair Valley Performance and never bolted on. Was built to be my backup charger, but changed classes. Call or text if you are interested. 608-317-7321

In my opinion, it can be done. Whether or not you will be successful with it depends a lot on horsepower. A much better alternative for you would be to switch over to a John Deere rod. It is the same length as the IH 407 rod and would be 100% better than taking even more material out of the piston pin area on a 407 rod. I have a set of deere rods that would work perfectly for you that are already

I have a set of Deere rods that are already machined to run on the IH crank. They have like new standard rod bearings in them and are ready to run. $1000 for the set shipped to you. 8.75 long. Perfect rods to build a long rod engine. 608-317-7321 call or text anytime.

Ok. Now that I am up to speed on the physics of metalurgy, I see what the process does. Where can I have my crank treated? I would prefer to find a reputable place that has done crank shafts before.

Dont forget about that Northern Sheen rim. Beautiful rims. Have the reinforcements for bead screws on the inside of the rim instead of welding them on the outside where they are exposed. High quality and more reasonably priced.

Guys are cryo treating their 640 stroked cranks now for superfarm? Or is this old news? What is the advantage? Better wear? Stronger? I would think that they would be more prone to cracking, but I dont know. If there is a working advantage to doing this, who would do it first of all, and is it done after the crank is stroked and weighted, but before the finished sizes are done on the journals?

Mets machine shop in Ohio did mine. Started with a new crank. Fully weighted it and zero balanced it. Had it done 3 years ago and never ran the crank. Cost me $2300 to have it done and have the base double drilled for the flywheel. I would sell my crank for what I have in it. Nothing wrong with it. Never pulled. Just need a stroked one instead. 608-317-7321

Just off the cuff, I believe the 560 and 706 carriers are of the same mold, but the triple six carriers wont interchange. They also have their own sets of ring and pinions that are unique to that particular chassis.

No. According to Degenhardts, the 656 666 686 rearend is heavier an the carrier area and is a better choice for someone looking to build the lighter chassis. They have owned an IH dealership for decades and have pulled light superstock for many years. They have always used the 656 rearends for that reason. I cant say that my information is gospel, but thats what Bill told me. Terry Blackbourn wou

Not that I am an expert, but both chassis have their advantages. 560 bellhousing is cheaper to adapt to, but a 656 is a stronger foundation to build from. I have a 656 rearend with a torque eliminator already installed built by Terry Blackbourn and a dt-360 truck engine set in place. In all honesty, it is a project that I have put together out of boredom, but has infinate potential. If you would

I thought that the 8 blade replaced the original 7 blades, but many guys went back to them. What do you guys see as the difference? is the 7 blade a more competative choice?

Dont take my word as gospel, but a drag car would be fueled by alcohol. In my experience, pulling vehicles that operate on alcohol tend to run different turbos than those that burn diesel. Are you looking to build a multi charger setup?

I will definately check it with a little bit of diesel in the hole, and compare my observations to the reference point that already exists on the cummins hub. Valve reliefs are cut .220 deep and piston bowl has the "whitch hat" machined out of it. I spent a week massaging the ports before I sent it to the pros to have it finished. Typical hotfarm head with Riverside components. Counterweighted crank and more fuel than needed. Rpms wont be a problem. I believe we'll start
with the 27 and go from there.
