Maxxforce is hands down a better block than the 8.3 and the old 400 series.

Why wouldnt red guys run an 8.3 if thats what they want to do? 8.3 block with a 7110 engine plate will bolt to a 1066 rear- So whats the problem? No different than putting the dt466 on a 706. Run magnum sheetmetal or ask for a variance if you have something else in mind....

Where does a speed limit save money? I understand the local clubs prefer to see the speed limit guideline, but how does it prevent any area of spending when designing and building a tractor for pulling? Whatever final drive ratio you need, gears have to be made. Shafts have to be replaced with better ones, clutches have to be improved. Regardless of speed, everything that would break at higher wh

Several things to consider. Speed limit class- sometimes jumping up to 42's can get you closer to the speed limit. 20.8's net more surface area on the ground, but depending on tire manufacturer- the 18.4 will put more lugs on the clay at any given time.

Looks to me like a 560 chassis with its roughly 18.4:1 final drive ratio would work quite well for a diesel llss. After the usual suspects are addressed- Billit one piece input shaft and billit carrier, what else is recommended? Someone mentioned in a previous post that a guy would need a set of bull pinion shafts----- Why? Are there other carriers that can be machined into the 560? Perhaps the

How close are the valves on a dt360 head to hitting the sleeves when it is bolted to an ag motor? Will the DT head bolt right on the smaller bore of the AG motor, or will the valves be shrouded by the cylinder walls. Is there room to put the dt466 valves in the DT360 head and still get it to breath ok? DT-360 bore is 4.01" versus the 3.875 bore of the Ag motor. I don't have any around the sh

If you take away the speed limit- and I would agree with that- what do you have left? Its called llss. Without a speed limit, it will be very hard to join up with operating clubs and have any sort of insurance coverage.

P3000 pumps can be put on really easily. Unbolt the round steel cap on the front of the pump housing and machine it down to fit the MW mounting plate. Re-machine the o-ring groove and use the MW o-ring. 7100's use a different (wider) four bolt flange, so the easiest way to do it is with an aftermarket mounting plate. The same gear will work to drive the pump, but you will have to grab the ri

I believe Harts lock up the Intravance System don't they? That is going to be a lot of fuel for that turbo. 3000 rpm I assume?

Sounds like an invitation. What group has rules that you think I would find attractive? If you have a class that you would like me to pull in, post the rules highlighting why they are designed to accomodate a multitude of tractors. I would be more than willing to print them off and talk to any board members that I know for future evaluation. Positive criticism and good feedback drive change/growt

I think the rule is to this day that the pump must be stock appearing. Does not say specifically for make and model, but for series of agricultural engine. I think Keith is running a Simms pump. Not sure if it was ever offered on a tractor, but was available on the 301 in the combines. I cant speak for the club, but an A pump should be legal for a case tractor, or a deere for sure. I would go so

John Deere has a 329 and a 359 engine in tractors. Not saying 360 is the answer, just an Idea to get more guys interested in building.

Is that a four cylinder? With my understanding of the rules, a modern designed four cylinder would be awesome in this class. With the cube limit and RPM at 3,000 the four banger would thrive in my opinion. Being a red guy, I have no options though! I already built a Super MD once and blew the head in half between the number 2 and 3 cylinders. If an aftermarket head was allowed I would do it again

You are 100% correct. Also, call Rocken Tech and talk to them about the 8600 pump, or the 9000 series pump that they offer under the table. They have high esteem, but in all reality a 16mm 7100 built by the right guy will flat out out run them. They are a big pump. My 8600 dwarfed my sigma. Weakness in their design is the inability to refill quickly after each cycle.

I was unable to attend, though I wanted to see how their banquets are conducted. I fell into a pair of Silver Bullet Suite tickets for the Bucks vs Golden State last night in Milwaukee. The bucks were able to serve up Golden State's first loss of the season. They left this morning with a 24-1 record. Great game. Anyways- about the light hot farm... I did propose the cube limit get raised to

Sorry, Bud! I personally dont consider an Allis Chalmers of any configuration a pulling tractor, but that's just me. To each his own. What do you pull? Antique? Farm? Altered farm? Banquet is this saturday night at the Phoenix Center in Richland Center, WI. Drinks are around 5 or 6. If you're free stop on down. The Koch boys and I will be running in a new class that is an 18 mph class.

I know what you're point is. That's why I wondered if it could be opened up a little. If the rules aren't attractive, the class will not grow. Maybe it will merge with the new altered antique at some point since they are within a couple hundred pounds, similar tire and same speed. If you know of anyone interested in the class please encourage them to put one together. In my experie

I understand where this group is coming from with the decisions that they have made. I have never been a member, but I have hooked with them the last couple of years and attended their rules meetings over that duration as well. I believe that they know their place in the pulling world, and they serve their purpose. I will continue to spend "real money" on my component super stock, and my 540 Too

I'm not sure. I requested that the light open class open up the cube limit to 360, but you never know if your voice is heard, or if it would be in the best interest of the club. My proposal was intended to get more tractors and more interest in that class. I cited that the cummins 5.9, the dt-360, the deere 359 and the 354 perkins were all readily available engines with many swap options. If

I wonder if the 5500 and 6000# open farm class and the new 5750 and 6250 altered or open antique wont eventually migrate into being the same class. The differences are small. One class has 1958 and older sheetmetal, and the other class allows turbos on diesel engines only as long as they are 315 cubes or less. Other than that, very similar.

Is there anything to be gained by putting an overhead cam on a diesel? I believe the biggest advantage to the overhead valve motors is the ease of maintaining valvetrain and simplicity. Overhead design putting the cam out of the block gets rid of rockers and pushrods that are a major breakage problem. With the lower spring pressure on the diesels, rockers don't seem to fail as often as the m

I would like to see the diesels allowed at 650. We discussed this within the last month. PPL diesel limit was 650 a couple of years back. Somewhere between 2010 and 2013 the diesel limit was dropped. I would like diesels to get cubic inches back, but I don't believe in splitting weights for a class. Superfarms already spend enough time pulling in the heavy super class, I don't want to e

Is the average working guy the one out chasing the grand national titles? In more cases than not, those guys are going to give it their all at a state or regional level. I think that the ULSS class is just going through a dry spell so to speak. With a handful of guys that jumped ship and developed the V-8 engine program, and all of the rest of the class throwing their arms up wondering how they

You can smirk and tease the commentators all you want. I understand the humor in some of it. Honestly- the real joke of it all is RFD. They used to broadcast four times a week when the deal was first made. Now, even with Case IH sponsorship, the spot has been reduced to airing twice a week. So if anyone is still conscious at 11:30 on a Sunday night, you might want to turn on RFD to watch the show
