the early 8000 transmission were splash lubed. and were a separate contained oil supply. the later ,newer than mid year 1970 had dual power as an option were pressure lubed with the transmission and rear end common oil compartment. don't think you could add dual power to one of the early ones .

A profab will work. A stock transmission can be made to work also. solid input shaft ,1/2 gears in the back. A new solid mainshaft with changeable ,custom ratio 3rd gear set and a billet front cover.

they make one for 5.9 cummins. I recommend getting one with bypass blocked off. and a screen large enough to flow heavy weight oil, and I think most pulling engines run at least 50 weight oil

8 th gear with 5.28 is 20.3-1, 4.625 is 17.8-1 and 3.5 is 13.47-1 The 4.625 ring and pinion is built to use a u joint yoke so a different coupler has to be made. the low range gears can be replaced to get more usable gears. also the 3rd gear can be replaced with a stronger main shaft with replaceable gear sets to get various ratios. with the stock 5.28 ring and pinion I have 17.4,18.5, 19.1 a
