Questions about attending Tomah - 14 years ago
I went to Tomah for almost a decade starting in 1994, but haven't gone in past 6 or 7 years. I'm considering going back this year. My question is- what food/beverage items can you bring into the stands? I remember no beer (not a problem) but what about small coolers, water or soda pop? Have they made changes or improvements to the facility? Do pullers still pit in the fan parkiby The Original Michael - Forum
New Van Valkenberg alky Deere- fact or fiction? - 14 years ago
Is there a new alky Deere coming from the Van Valkenberg stable this year? If so, will it be a Light SS, a State/regional type Heavy SS, or a hemi-head Unlimited SS? Also, if there is a new tractor, will it travel with Smuggler to any GN pulls this summer? thanksby The Original Michael - Forum

Re: Sledhandler D21 - 15 years ago
I believe the tractor you're referring to was Harold Wilson of Greensburg, IN. For a while in the '90s, Harold pulled a newer model DSS, and his son David pulled a D-21. Not sure if true or not, but an announcer said that Harold never told his wife that he built his son a SS tractor. I'm not positive, but I believe David Wilson's tractor was either sold to Brian Shramekby The Original Michael - Forum

Wait a minute (PPL rule book) - 15 years ago
I just looked at the PPL rule book, downloaded off the PPL website. For the mod rules, tubines, it states 2 T-64s, 2 T-55, or 4 T-53. On Page 23, #5 under Super Modified Tractor rules. How do the triple T-64's like Eder and Nation (now Boyer) and Roberts get to run? Just asking. Did the rule change for 2009?by The Original Michael - Forum
Re: Cloverdale by the numbers - 15 years ago
If you want contstructive criticism, look at my 2 posts at the bottom of this thread. There are several suggestions as to what could be done to make a better experience for spectators and pullers. One thing that has been mentioned regarding entries- set a cutoff date like JR did with the Harrisburg pull. wrong, sir - 15 years ago
I wondered how long it would be before the "if you don't like it don't go" or "what pull do you promote?" chorus would chime in. While your dedication is admirable, is telling a family man who spent $100 on 2 sessions a day for him and his wife, plus kids and concessions on top of that "if you don't like it, don't go", really an intelligent response? Or, was that a productby The Original Michael - Forum
Re: What Klint can and can't control - 15 years ago
I was there Friday. Went for Friday night. Afternoon show didn't get done until 7:30 or so, when the evening start time was 7:00. The actual time of the first hook Friday night was closer to 8:45. After the afternoon session, the building was cleared. Here are my thoughts, trying to be fair. Also, when I use Klint's name, I am also referring to track officials, etc. I don'tby The Original Michael - Forum

Thank you Jake. You articulated what I was trying to say very well! Great Wal-Mart comparsion. I feel the same way. I know this will never happen unless or until the next generation of organizational leaders arrive on the scene, but wouldn't it be great if Outlaws, WPI, and PPL could do an IRL/CART type of unification with standardized rules, and perhaps either one master national scby The Original Michael - Forum

Re: The big picture - 15 years ago
SNT, as Greg K stated, the Indiana State Fair pull does not conflict with Hamburg. I'm going to get a little bit smart alecky, but it's illustrating a point. Btw, your argument about expanding the sport is good, but misplaced. It's not like PPL scheduled a Champions Tour in Phoenix, AZ the same weekend as BG. They scheduled a pull that has been around for years, just at a diffeby The Original Michael - Forum

As I said, I understand he's hyping his organization. The statement in question may work with the Louisville crowd or monster truck fans, but the people on this forum know better. He stretched the truth a little, and I just pointed it out. As far as giving money to people who appreciate it, I live not far from the Indiana State Fairgrounds. what he said taken from an story posted just today about the PPL pull in Indianapolis. Lucas Oil President & CEO, Forrest Lucas, is an avid truck & tractor pulling enthusiast. “The last time I saw a tractor pull at the Fairgrounds in Indy was in the late fifties,” said Lucas. ? for pullers/crew/fans about sleds/sled design - 15 years ago
In the past few weeks, I've read posts about super farms, about turbines in the unlimited, and other things talking about the way modern sleds just don't work as well as they could or should in stopping vehicles, especially when the pan drops or when they start grabbing into the dirt. There have been posts that state in not so many words, that sleds can contribute to breakage. For pby The Original Michael - Forum

I was wondering.... Are there any track conditions where your LLSS tractors would have a fair shot against a Mid South or WTPA (basically, NTPA GN) LSS tractor, where their higher horsepower wouldn't be of much help? For example, if it rained earlier in the day ,and they had to scrape muck off the track but it was still wet, would that make your style of tractor more even with a high hby The Original Michael - Forum
can this be done? - 15 years ago
Hey Dick, do you have the capability of doing a top 3? For example, I like the unlimited SS, diesel SS, and Light SS... it's hard to pick a favorite. Does your message board allow the capacity to have us put down our #1 choice, #2 choice, and #3 choice? Maybe #1 could get 3 points, #2 2 points, and #3 1 point. The class with most points could be the "overall" favorite tractor classby The Original Michael - Forum

If we're going to redesign the pro stock class, I say let the word "STOCK" mean something.... with regards to fuel. I'm fine with components. Not going to touch the block rule. However, I question why any fan or puller has an issue with a tractor being able to run the fuel it came from the factory with. Does Colberg dominate sf? No, but he can win from time to time. Re: 2009 NTPA GN Precommit list here - 15 years ago
An NTPA precommitted puller is still allowed to pull with other organizations. They just signed a contract to pull at every NTPA GN event where their class is offered. If those were the only hooks they made (unlimiteds aside), they wouldn't pull very much. PPL tried that a couple years ago. Illinois legislature wants to make gun owners get $1 million liability policy - 15 years ago
First, sorry Jake. You do a good job of keeping this forum a pulling related forum, but I hope you'll indulge me this once.
