Caleb- If you decide to go with a 12/49, I have a good one on the shelf that is available. Let me know if interested.

To the original poster- I am on the board of directors with ISP (Illini State Pullers), and we would potentially be interested in a pull in Green Valley. That is toward the southern end of the area we cover, but we do have some other events not far from there, like the HOI Fair in Peoria, and the Small Town Tractor Pull in Laura. One thing we offer, that is often a perk for events like yours i

I just used 1/4" air line with stainless wire ran inside. Super cheap, and you can basically get any length and stroke you want. For my system, I have it so if the sled pulls the chord it will just yank the wire out as far as it wants to. It's easily reset and nothing ever has to get broken.

If you're looking at the northern IL area, several of our ISP pulls have farm stock classes. There is typically a 12.5K Turbo class and occasionally a 14K as well. Sometimes there is a speed limit, sometimes not. We're still finalizing our 2021 schedule, but will be adding event details as they are finalized. www.illinistatepullers.com

I used this high-temperature metallic repair putty. A little pricey, but it's pretty amazing stuff. Supposedly it's available under a Cat part number as well.

From FMCSA 390.3:
Question 21: Does the exemption in ยง390.3(f)(3) for the "occasional transportation of personal property by individuals not for compensation nor in the furtherance of a commercial enterprise" apply to persons who occasionally use CMVs to transport cars, boats, horses, etc., to races, tournaments, shows or similar events, even if prize money is offered at these events?

Our class runs the same rules that you described, and that turbo is our "box" turbo. I used to run a Harts Model 100 pump that was supposedly capable of 500+ cc. It ran good with that combination, but my egt's were about as hot as I could stand (usually over 1800 at 32 degrees timing). More fuel would have helped. Since then we've switched to an A-Pump and added a factory type inner

I used one of these for 1/4" lines with good results. They make a 5/16 version as well. They are available from several online tool retailers.

McMaster Carr has a wide selection of pressure switches for this application. Also, if you look up Nason brand switches, they have an extensive catalog as well, with many models and configuration options. I bought one of them through an online distributor once, but I can't remember specifically who it was. I was using it for the exact same function as what you described, and it has worked

I used two SPDT roller-whisker switches, mounted to make contact with the shift arms on top of the trans cover. Power the neutral switch off the normally closed terminal of the reverse switch, that way you don't have the neutral light on when you are in reverse.

I think it depends on how good your tire beads are. Mine have been mounted and dismounted a lot, and they were slipping in the rims at way less than 1000 hp. It's a function of rim torque, so what weight you pull at probably makes a difference as much as horsepower.

Several of our ISP pulls have non-sanctioned farm stock. Usually 10,000 N/A and 12,500 turbo, and sometimes 14,000. There is a tentative schedule posted on the Illini State Pullers Facebook page that lists these.

Tuthill 2LE is I think what most guys use that mount them on the front side of the pump drive. I drove mine off the crank, so I used a 1LE, which is half the displacement (for twice the speed). I bought mine used on eBay for $150 and it has worked really well. There is also a 4104 and 4105, which are equivalent displacement to the 1LE and 2LE that have some alternative gear and bearing material

I've been using a foot-operated dimmer switch between the clutch and brake pedals for several years now and have gotten along really well with it. I just walked into Napa and said "give me a floor dimmer switch from an old pick-up truck" and that's what I used.
If I were to ever do it over again, I might try a momentary push-button switch in my throttle handle, but use a non-latch

I run a Wimer 12mm A pump, and typically I change the oil every other pass. I've gone a little longer without a problem, but it does dilute a fair bit. Jim told me that's just what to expect with these pumps. He also said his 12mm A pumps dilute more than the 14mm do.

How much fuel do you have, and what RPM limit? Those things might make some difference. Running those gears at those speed limits you shouldn't have to throttle back too much to stay under the limit, so that would help keep you from getting under the boost.
As far as the overall size, the S360 is just a bit taller than a 3LM, and a little bigger in diameter, but really not that much.

Our 2 Hot 2 Farm class with ISP runs the S360 as our box turbo, and they've worked out very well. We are at 466 cubes, and they spool up quick and make good boost. Good reliability too. Most of us are running the .91 A/R exhaust housing (which is standard) and some have tried the 1.00. I would think at 414 cubes the .91 or the .88 would work fine. Mounting is easy too on an IH. They

I used one of these:
Sensor Connection
It's worked really well for me and it was cheap. It's a little hard to see in the bright sunlight, but that hasn't been too big of a problem. You do have to buy the probe separate (which they sell), or in my case I used an Autometer probe that I already had. I believe any Type-K thermocouple probe will work.

I took the exhaust housing off the turbo and machined the v-band portion down to accept the stock spring-backed metal sealing ring, and also took off about 1/2" of length. That way you can just slip your exhaust elbow right over the exhaust housing directly. You'll need to use stacks of washers (or custom spacers) over the mounting bolts for the foot to make things line up right.

I tried the diesel Tiny-Tach with the piezoelectric injector line clamp, and it worked sort of, but if you have a pump with a tight governor that flutters when not under load, the tach won't get an accurate reading because you are not getting a consistent fuel pressure pulse through the line during that condition. It under-reports your speed by at least half until the governor settles down.

I've had similar problems holding tubes on my 20.8 BFG's on 23" rims. In my case it wasn't the valve stems ripping, but the tubes were basically splitting I think. I was initially told to go the Natural Rubber route, but that didn't work either. Then Mark Hawthorn cut the tires for me and he said the only way to make rims that wide work with tubes is to go with a larger met
